how much did the average person pay to see a movie in 2004 vs now? but act like a few dollars increase like 16 years later for a game they can play literally 24/7 if they want to is somehow the worst thing ever. how much did you pay for a bottle of soda then vs now? or a big mac? or groceries from the store? did they all stop eating in protest?
Not crazy about this, especially since I’ve been buying month to month rather than sub, but I’ve already uninstalled WoW and my time is up in a few days so ok w/e
Saw an ad for EQ2 that sparked my curiosity yesterday, kinda wanna play a frog dude.
I was hesitant to come back to WoW given the fact we are in a pandemic, and that priority spending is on Food, Rent, and Bills. WoW is a luxury like movies, and bigmacs. I am fine with severing this luxury due to increased cost. If it stayed the same I would of continued, but given limited finances, and a world where people are trying to save as much as possible. Best thing for myself right now is to stop playing. Oh well. Times are tough.
What does Blizzard have to bring in money besides this ancient MMO? Their other games are not exactly hits anymore and can be played for free anyway.
Seriously . . .WoW has to be THE game propping up Blizzard. And they ought to be worrying if it SL staying power
I assume he read the persons response and thought he meant 24 USD and not 24 CAD
On the other hand 16 years ago when we bought a game we got everything in that game.
We didn’t also have have an outfit for $25 and a pet for $12.50 and a mount for $32.
It’s not the worst thing ever but it’s also dishonest to act like all that has happened in the last 16 year is “a few dollars increase” on the subscription.
If this 4Head take were true the American sub price would be $4000 a month.
A long time ago a lot of players would buy game time cards from stores and enter the code to keep their account active, this is not the same as being subbed to the game.
you don’t have to buy mounts, pets, mogs, toys, or anything else. they even gave a super cheap option to buy the expansion without extras. literally the only thing you have to pay for to play the game is game time. even the expansions are free eventually now.
They’re going up in a pandemic because all the central banks around the world have pumped many many trillions of cash into the system. But we aren’t seeing a dollar of them. Just the top earners.
When this happened to Australia a bunch of Canadians scoffed.
Sweet sweet sweet irony (irony is not the right word but whatever).
(But no less ironic than the fact that I bit the bullet and just bought the six month sub after I myself complained lel, I’m totally self aware about this).
You don’t have to, but it’s part of the game that was sold to us separately all the same.
16 years ago you paid $60 USD you got everything.
The fact that “but it’s optional!” isn’t all that relevant to the point.
Blame the Liberal and JT for wanting to tax digital sub. Soon Netflix, Disnesy + will all have to add tax to your sub. Is just he spend too much with CREB and throwing free money without actually checking to see who should get it.
the thing about the aussie sub was ridiculous. they were paying 3rd world country rates and had the audacity to demand NZ get a bigger increase when they already paid many times more than aussies did in USD.
I’m hearing a lot of white noise here.
When this happened to Australia a bunch of Canadians scoffed .
I didn’t scoff… I didn’t even know it happened to you. I’d be just as pissed. I’d be defending anyone dealing with increased prices. Why some people defend prices going up confuses me. “Yes, I’m happy to see that things are more expensive for others. I’m ok with this blah blah.” Uhhh ok… makes no sense why anyone would ever be happy with paying more for anything. Thought we all like to save money.
blizzard is a business not a charity. if it’s too expensive for you now then play a different game. there’s tons out there.
Yea, they right, buying game time is now stupidly expensive, but subs apparently stay the same
Still a stupid change
From a business perspective it makes perfect sense unfortunately. Get to you pay for 3 or 6 months of time whether you’ll play it or not… Pay a premium for going month to month and the ability to walk away pretty easy if you don’t end up enjoying it…
Not trying to be like haha they have to pay more, but the shift in value of money means that if this doesn’t adjust would just mean Aussies would pay less, right?
What is the Liberal and JT?
Let’s be real here. Captalism is why prices are going up. It’s a system to exploit everything, even a global crisis, for monetary gains. Been going on since its invention, and that’s why you see billionaires doubling their fortunes in 2020 while the rest of the world is struggling to get by.
