I, and many others, believe that this is the wrong way to go about “expansion exclusive cosmetics”. Especially when Blizzard stated that they were going to remove the requirement for the cloak.
Looks like we just need to agree to disagree.
No they didn’t. Blizzard was taking out the cloak requirement to get to Ordos at the end of the expansion, then, without telling anyone, left it in for reasons unknown. I was there when it happened. I was here when it happened. Don’t spread rumors.
Also stupid, yeah.
LOLWUT? Someone else who doesn’t have a clue what they’re talking about. There’s nothing unique about the transmogs from Ordos. They’re existing pieces from class sets. The Ordos pieces are just generic and can be used by any class for that armor type.
Don’t try to pull this “players like you” bullcrap. This isn’t a damn challenge appearance. It’s a raid boss. No one here is asking for challenge appearances. Jesus.
Mists challenge mode was that. Not Ordos. Don’t be dumb.
“Hey yo girl, I have the Swift Alliance Steed/Swift Horde Wolf. What do you mean, ‘What is that?’?”
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this. When I don’t have these rewards, it makes me determined to get the next potential “I was there” reward, and then it feels like I earned something that is no longer obtainable because I put in the time during its relevancy. Obviously not every piece of gear or content should be like this, but a random world boss requiring a lengthy unlock is a weird hill to die on.
The whole Hunter-Shaman thing needs a clear and decisive answer with a SOURCE, because there is too much conflicting information in this thread.
In my experience, my Shaman got the xmog… and my Hunter can use it. Yet every post in this thread is saying the opposite.
Just as there are a ton of people saying “100% you can’t get it” … we know it has recently been added to the BMAH. So you absolutely CAN get it.
I don’t PvP on my Shaman, so my guess is that it drops off Nalak (since PvP items are in his loot table). But I’m telling you-- the Shaman appearance WILL allow a Hunter to use that xmog.
Wasn’t it possible to bring someone in a group without the cloak?
Apparently Ordos was also that given the fact that you cannot get the rewards unless you did the expansion limited requirements.
But hey, if you want to believe that your feelings will change that fact, go for it.
Can warlock + 2 friends summon you to him?
What about new players? Shouldn’t they have a chance to see that content and obtain the rewards?
So, basically it’s a status symbol. I have something you don’t have and you’ll never be able to get hahahah…
Exactly!! Now you get it!
If warlocks can summon to Ordos, I and some friends can summon you to him on Timeless Isle. I’m not sure if it works, though. If it does, let me know if you want us to do it some time.
Warlocks can’t summon you.
If any solution that simple worked, we wouldn’t still be discussing this 8+ years later.
It’s quite simple: If you don’t have a cloak, you CANNOT fight Ordos.
But! Everything in the Ordos loot table (as of 8.3) can be acquired another way. So… stop whining.
I didn’t know. A lot of Ordos’s loot is on the BMAH, and it never goes very high in value (at least on low pop servers). I’d just wait to see if it shows up on there.
Honestly, I wish they would reopen the MoP and WoD legendary questlines.
Make the cloaks non xmog. Boom, done! Exclusivity is maintained. Give Ordos a different loot table for those who don’t have the original cloak.
Your idea overcomplicates something that isn’t complicated, and offers a solution that actually makes the problem worse.
Is that you, Ion??
Really, I would like to reopen both questlines. But if the objection is exclusivity, simply don’t allow the cloaks to become xmog. (I’ve got some items that should xmog, but don’t. E.g., korkrun mining pick from the Argussian Reach vendor.)
Apparently, getting xmog drops from Ordos is also an exclusivity issue.
I don’t know if you can fight ordos without the cloak, but you can get to his sanctuary in two ways.

Goblin/Golden glider method … Swim out in the water north of Ordos Sanctuary. Go all the way until fatigue starts, get on a flying mount and fly straight up as high as you can. Fly toward Ordos Sanctuary until you are dismounted and immediately pop your glider … glide into Ordos Sanctuary.

Hitch a ride from an Albatross. You might want to just search YouTube for this one, it’s a little hard to explain the detail, but essentially, when an Albatross is flying low enough, hit with a range attack (preferably one that it is weak enough not to kill it). It should swoop down and pick you up and fly you around the entire zone, all you need to do is kill it while you are over Ordos Sanctuary and you will be dropped there.
Note, I did these things a while ago, so not sure if they have been patched out or not.
people acknowledged they didn’t earn something, and stopped trying to get rewards they didn’t earn when it was relevant content.
Please explain exactly how this is this not an equally viable solution, thank you.
