I’m sorry I wasn’t online when you posted a few hours ago. Yes, you appear to have received some bad advice - the books in Legion and BfA only re-teach you recipes and patterns from non-repeatable quests from that expansion. I would never recommend anyone unlearn a profession unless they are certain they will never re-learn it.
