Since you’re giving alot of people what they want cosmetic wise. And you’ve seen the high demand for small cosmetic changes to races such as blue eyes for elves and void elf hair colour and how happy it makes consumers and probably bought people back or the one thing that kept some remaining players. Can you imagine the fuss and appreciation people would feel if you added some new races. You all know the ones I’m talking about, Kyrian, Nightfae, Necrolord and Venthyr. These are perfect fanatasy like races especially the nightfae.
Surely you can surprise us in the final patch of SL with these as allied races maybe, imagine how many people it could bring back, since most casuals care about cosmetic things in the game so much. And surely you can squeeze these 4 races in and make it work in the lore, you change the lore all the time. I mean the undead race were people who went to the SL only to be bought back to life and stay in the land of the living.
Working towards unlocking the allied races in BFA was the only thing that kept me playing alot, in SL it feels theres nothing that interesting to work towards besides getting an ilvl upgrade on gear… Nothing else that interesting to unlock right now.
Edit: I just thought of something, how come my mounts from the Shadowlands can go in the living world freely and stay with us? My mounts from SL are creatures from the SL that live in the SL, how come they’re allowed to leave when ever they want? As well as hunter pets from SL and Blanche the horse mount died and sent to the SL only to be allowed back to the living to be someones mount. The MAWSWORM came into our world and took Anduin proving they can come into our world, they’re just fallen Kyrian. And some Kyrian speak about wanting to leave SL to travel to “the many worlds”.
They’re more interesting than most of the allied races we were given in BFA which were just recolours of the ones we already had, or just made to stand up straight. And they can have something happen in a patch to make it so they can choose to leave the SL. Blizz altar lore all the time. Lets face it we ain’t surpose to be in the Sl as the living are we yet we can pass back and forth freely, and will continue to do so after this expansion too. They can make it vice versa with some good writing.
That was the point of the allied races, reusing the models.
So what’s the point of dying if you can just enter a portal and go back to Azeroth to keep living? No one important will ever die in the story if they can just come back.
You can die in the Shadow lands themselves, if anything SL made death more meaningful since we now know there IS a permanent death that even necromancy in most cases won’t reverse.
Whats the point in living when we spend all our time in the afterlife in SL anyway.
Sort of but the vulpera and mechagnome were very different looks and not just reclours. Like the lightforge draenie I can’t tell the difference between a lightforged and a tbc one.
between undead, kyrian actually being able to just go to azeroth, and aerdenwealds purpose being to resurrect wild gods, there’s already so many loopholes in death.
totally not advocating for shadowlands races, just pointing out shadowlands kinda broke more things about the afterlife than it actually helped explain.
They’re dead souls sworn to the Shadowlands and their own afterlives. It make zero sense to ally themselves with Horde or Alliance in the realm of mortals when they belong to the realm of death.
Yeah, but if the races of the shadowlands can just return to Azeroth, no death in the story will be emotional or meaningful. Just imagine Thrall dying. We’ll be like ok let’s go to Maldraxxus and bring him back
Thats a main character, but you only need to look at the undead race to see they bring people back to the living world to stay after they’ve been in the afterlife SL. Might as well as remove ressurect spell while we’re at it sticking so tightly to the lore lol
To be fair, with Necromancers they could ALREADY do this, it’s not new… the Lich King had an entire order of necromancers at his command who could raise the dead. The biggest lore implication is that the SLs have a form of perma-death for mortal souls/natural denizens. If anything, due to this, death now actually has consequences.
