Can Worgen be allowed to become Paladins now?

The best lore time to do this would have been during Legion with the Lightforged process but I feel there is an opportunity for that here in TWW as well.

Perhaps the Arathi have some process to infuse you with Light Radiance or something can happen with the Beladar crystal.

I want to put out the idea and hopefully the devs will see.

Both of your suggestions involve them becoming Paladins by having the light pushed into them from some external power. The only precedent for this is the TBC-era Blood Knights. (Keeping in mind that the Lightforging process does not make someone a Paladin if they aren’t already one.) Why is this something you want to see for Worgen, specifically?

no, they are VERY BAD DOGS.

From my understanding - Blizzard intoned they would expand the Class/Race combos - but the Paladin and Druid Classes in particular are the most daunting and time intensive tasks to develop.

Then… after Metzen returned… expanding Druid and Paladin availability was put on the back burner for more Thrall story.

It would seem the old Skool were the ones who wanted this Racist Gatekeeping, so when they returned to power, it would be a speed bump on this front.

Well… because I want to be able to play a Worgen Paladin lol

Imo there is no need to go throught the process of lightforging or being shot with sacred flame
Worgens are humans, many humans worship the light, let them be paladins
There is 0 incompatibility between the worgen curse and the light

Since Midnight is supposed to this clash between the Light and Void, I could easily see paladins becoming available to every race.

Worgen are cursed humans, but them worshipping the Light is not really a good excuse for them being paladins. At least Paladins of the Silver Hand, as that requires a level of control and stability that worgen inherently lack. The curse by its nature amplifies the worst traits for a Paladin - fear, rage, and doubt even after they undergo the tranquility ritual. Doubt is the worst trait for Church of the Holy Light style light wielders in general.

Strictly speaking lore wise, and gameplay aside with them having priests available as a class, a lot of Gilnean worgen experienced a religious awakening and gave up worship of the Light in favour of Goldrinn.

Personally, I’m of the opinion that a whoever/whatever/wherever approach to classes has a diluting effect on the game’s fantasy elements. Even so, that ship sailed long ago for Warcraft, so go ahead. Let anyone be anything.

While Rage combined with Pride are the best traits…

Do Worgen have the Pride needed to counter Doubt? An interesting question…

Despair is not the problem Doubt is the problem. Benedictus succumbed to Despair but not Doubt. He did not Doubt his power despite Doubting the Will of the Light. Infact Doubting the Will of the Light due to his Despair gave him the Faith in himself needed to master the Light!

Doubt in oneself(not others) is the enemy of the Light. The Infinite Lies to the Light’s One True Path.

All qualities that the Scarlet Crusade displays in spades.

You do bring up a valid reason. One thing I will point out, with this quoted part, is with the way paladins have been handled recently it feels like Blizzard is moving forward with paladins to make them more like how they are in D&D in my opinion.

Paladins aren’t just followers of the Light, they can be followers of a diety like the Tyr Guard we saw in Dragonflight. So if that is the case, could worgen potentially get paladins who are devoted to Goldrinn and upholding his ideals and tenets?

Gothicist forgets that it is Self-Doubt that deprives one of the Light not Doubt in others.

Doubt in others, Rage, Fear of others is useful for Light users.

Doubt in oneself, rage at oneself and fear of oneself is the worst trait for a Light user.

Light is about inner strength.

There is no Cosmic Force that embodies a lack of inner strength which is the point: Inner Weakness has no power.

The One Truth of all Cosmic Forces is thus “Only the Strong survive!”

Those who lack inner strength(Good or Evil) can’t get power from anything. Those who lack strength who try to tap into Shadow are sent cowering, those who lack strength who try to tap into Fel explode(like that Demon Hunter), those who lack strength who try to tap into Arcane wither, those who lack strength who try to tap into Light fail and those who lack strength who try to tap into the Elements fail.

Yventhalim: All mages are Muscle Mages.
:muscle:

If they see your idea, they can’t use it. So that’s why they avoid this p lace.

They aren’t.

That pride is countered by fear, and fear leads to doubt.

Benedictus succumbed to the point that he joined the Twilight’s Hammer Cult.

Which they overcame through sheer conviction and, unlike the worgen, did not suffer from a curse that massively amplified those qualities.

Absolutely, which would be a much cooler way of making worgen paladins. It would be unique, it’d stand out, it would build on the lore we see in Wolfheart.

It’s the difference between paladins as in the class and Paladins as in the Knights of the Silver Hand. One is merely a holy warrior, while the other is practically a demi-human greatly empowered by holy rituals.

That is the exact kind of doubt we constantly see when in the POV of a worgen, so no, I am not forgetting that.

Even the strongest worgen is constantly walking the line of giving in to the immense fear, doubt, anger and more that they feel to a much higher degree than humans.

And you could count the amount of Scarlet Crusaders that know this, let alone acknowledge it, on one hand.

Balnazzar amplified their fanaticism and xenophobia, traits that were already present amongst these people long before they wore the scarlet flame.
