Punishment for not playing the game the same as you?
Sorry to hear that.
Maybe because I’m so hardcore solo-casual, I haven’t gotten there … yet.
And this is one reason why the game is in such terrible straits right now.
WoW is not the game today that it was in earlier xpacs – which, rather ironically, had better flight systems. TBC, Wrath and MoP systems were far superior to what we have now, and I’d rather have the Cata system of flight right out of the gate than to have grinds attached to it.
There is no reason to have a flight grind. It makes no common sense, as it demands you to believe that flying mounts can “forget” how to fly depending on where they are. It’s only done for one of two reasons – either Blizzard can’t make enough content on schedule, and thus have to slow down the player base to make up for its own incompetence, or it’s Example 57 of “we want players to play OUR game,” which is Example 58 of why the game is generally tailspinning into the nether.
People don’t consume content the way they did 10 years ago, the player base is aging and a grind by any other name is still a grind. They’re killing themselves with it, but haven’t figured it out yet.
I’m over it. WoD and Legion were 'test" expacs for borrowed power…look where we are now. And now we have DOUBLE timegated flying grind in 1 expansion. Like they say “you give them an inch, they take a mile”. They keep testing unpopular things and expanding no matter how it hurts us. I’m discontinuing wow after SL if they keep this up, I refuse to be a “beta tester” for ideas that we push back against.
“I heard you hate pathfinder so do it twice!” - Blizzard
What’s the pre-requisites for flying in 9.2?
Oh, I think they have it figured out. Soon has Activision took over this end has been planned. The slow changing of systems not to mention terrain was meant to maximize time spent & money made. The level squish. They’re planning for a new generation.
I have no problem with a company wanting to turn a profit, and they knew they’d take a hit the year plus they paid less attention to SL and on 10.0 hence the extra systems. They kept as many players as possible for as long as possible. Covid gave them an excuse for awhile until people started figuring out what was going on. The lawsuits haven’t helped, but they figured might as well take that hit now as any other and we got the MT and the CC. That’ll keep 'em occupied.
So, after the holidays 9.2. And then wait. Those left now are mostly the die hard, and face it, they do have new players, and as of 10.0 new players don’t have 17 years of lore to worry about catching up on. Blizz has a brand new game, and are counting on one helluva success then. Out with the old, in with the new.
I really don’t like how it’s gated, by an actual timer. If it were player controlled, ie, based on how much you can farm fine, but actually hard gating it, no. Really don’t even like the idea of player controlled, but it’s better than a hard gate. Say you had a power outage for several days, like I did recently, well with either form of gating, I just lost time and fell behind due to something out of my control.
Good. They should just call this a failure, push it out asap and put everything into 10.0.
This game dies if 10.0 fails, straight up. They can’t afford to keep pushing these stupid ideas into the game anymore.
We need a MoP-like expac to bring the game back to where it needs to be.
More likely to get a legion, but hey, better than the last two failures.
You do realize that Ion was extremely furious when he was literally forced to keep flying in WoW during WOD. He has been taking out his frustration on the customers ever since. He calls it “pathfinder”. ![]()
I loved that one Blizzcon where he addressed flying in BfA and said yes Pathfinder will be back then the entire audience booed and he tried to laugh it off as a “mixed reaction.”
Sure does feel that way, maybe he needs to put back to being strictly a raid Dev guy, and get others in at the top that might not be so against flying.
dumb company still doesn’t know the meaning of fantasy ?
yeh the crybaby ion maybe had a cry because he got his butt kicked from people flying down killing his noob butt
I remember that, he is so out of touch with most of the playerbase, it’s not even funny anymore.
guys we will have to suffer and support 9.2 for long time , but what is coming , is beyond reality
10.0 will be better than peak WOLTK hopium
No, I didn’t. That explains a lot.
Then had the audacity to say “well, if nobody is happy, we’re probably doing something right”.
Like…really??? That man is so far out of touch with reality it’s sickening.
Don’t take my word for it. Google it. He made the announcement over a holiday weekend and WoW lost over two million subs immediately, plus more in the following weeks. Lizzard announced a couple of weeks later that they would no longer be reporting subscription numbers for the first time in their history.
Geez. I don’t get the “why?” It’s fantasy. We’re supposed to be able to do things, fun things, we don’t get to in real life. I mean you really can’t use an axe to battle it out with the new neighbor who’s two dogs bark all night…ahem. /grin or send a magic attack on gruesome monsters surrounding your home…the Fantasy is the kid that gets to come out and play in a game. Yes, games need purpose and rules, but to suck fun out and replace it with work… Flying is something one always, always wished for since they were a kid. Wow’s flying was one of it’s major attractions, I thought anyway, just don’t get the “why.” And now 2x which means that’s how it’s going to be here on out.
Just sad. Sure, I go back to other places to fly, but it’s not the same as flying in the current expansion. Remember how excited everyone was: “at least we get flying sooner.” Now we know why. They were going to yank it away and make you work twice as hard if you wanna play in this elite mob zone. I think they’re trying to get rid of the solo open world casuals too. Everything seems to be more and more dedicated to the ‘Three.’ /sigh there’s a time to hold on and a time to let go. Just thought I’d be one of those hanging in through thick and thin.
Was never upset at any expansion or even really looked at who owned it. I didn’t care. I was enjoying myself. Perhaps a little kerfuffled here and there at changes, but yeah this flying thing… But never say never, just in case lol
I just told my guild I would come back for patch 9.2 because I’m excited about equipping a 2nd legendary (requires revered with new faction), and because of the new zone and the fact that you can fly… oh shucks it’s time gated. Whelp guess I won’t be coming back at all… effing blizzard I EARNED my flying mounts! a decade ago. It cost me a lot of gold!!!
