Can we talk about how terrible the level balancing is?

You are right about the scaling messing up what is shown to you.

The third player down on recount was a level ~35 tank. To his screen, it probably looked like I was doing over 1000 dps.

However, if it is math, you change the math in dungeons. A logarithmic curve can be changed by changing its incoming parameters.

Don’t think of it as you getting weaker but the mobs getting stronger. With exiles reach as the new starting zone the player is now starting off as a badass solving all the problems and the only one who can.

Makes sense that until you start getting into the level 30 bracket nearing the max level (currently 50 prepatch) that you start to find things that are more worthy of your skills.

Then once hitting max level and getting gear you back to killing everything with ease.

WoW is no longer about the journey of leveling. It is telling a flimsily connected story and doing stuff at max level. I don’t like the answer of Classic is there but it is there. When I want to feel like leveling is the game I pick up my classic characters.

When I want to play a different game but same universe I play retail.

You can’t convince me that it makes sense in an MMO for at lvl 10, when you create your character, to hit a pack of elite mobs in Utgarde Keep for 90% of their HP.

And then after 10 hours of gearing and leveling at lvl 48 in Utgarde Keep you hit the pack of elite mobs for 4% of their HP.

There has to be a fix to that, you can’t tell me there isn’t. It feels bad. Period.

I have already seen people on Feathermoon offering to power level you using 3 level 10 characters.

It is even worse if you abuse all the quest reward problems where you get gear set for people 5 - 40 levels higher than you.

Scaling (or whatever you wish to call it) is all over the place
My level 13 warlock was topping charts over 30s and 40s, yet now that Im 37, im now the bottom
it feels really off

Ahh yep, level 15s with a very high item level.

I guess my concern is that I doubt that Blizzard will want to worry about adding ANOTHER level of balancing on top of what they’re already doing. I think what we’re running into is the same problem pvp has been having for years, but now that it’s spilled into pve more folks are taking notice.

I don’t think its that big of a deal overall, but have you guys used the lightforge racial? Things like that, specific moves, need to be changed. It literally 1 shots every mob on your screen.

a lvl 10 hunter doing 10% more damage than a lvl 30 hunter I don’t really care about as much as specific moves that are just clearly broken.

I HAVE USED IT, AND IT’S THRALLING GLORIOUS! I’m sorry, it’s just delicious to see that big boom.

I good way to balance things out is to remove all armor and weapons from game.
Then have us /scream at all the mobs before engaging in good ole fisticuffs.

It’s fun, if they want it like that then thats cool. I’m down. I just think that for it to go live the way it did, they either 1. Never even looked at the move once or 2. just dont even care, both are kinda bothersome lol

Halloween event headless horseman… lvl 11… top dps… 50’s there… yeah…

I am going to sound like I am contradicting myself here, but look at it like this:

Say you have one ability that does all of your damage for you. It has a 10 second CD. The average dps is 100, so to match it, you have to do 1000 damage with it. Now say there is another player who has an ability with a 1 second CD. To do the same dps as you, it has to hit for 100 damage.

It looks like one is OP, and is in a burst situation, but they are the same in the long run. That is the reason for level power scaling. More abilities = less need for extra power.

The current one works great for the overworld. It sucks for dungeons though. In a perfect world, there would be per class/per level scaling. This would remove the power of that screenshot of a level 10 mage I showed. That is almost impossible without a LOT of effort.

Just taking things down to a level where people are more or less similar in their power would be a good thing. Some will still be stupidly strong at low levels, but it would not be so bad as it is now.

PLEASE, Badass LEVEL 11 PRIEST THAT’S HAVING TROUBLE FACING THE BOSS, SAVE US!

I’d agree with that for like a rogue, but prot paladins have every single attack at lvl 10 lol

Arcane mages do as well.

That is why that screenshot shows so much damage. The thing that is not a long cooldown that is really missing for that character to do even more damage in a dungeon is the improved Arcane Barrage that can hit more than one enemy on use.

LOL, ROLF xD

some classes dont get aoe till higher levels, lower levels will feel like they hit harder but bare in mind they have a more limited tool kit, its not a perfect system but i understand why they squashed everything cause the whole mess was getting out of control, we should never again see an expac where you gain 2 to 3 expacs of ilvl in one expac, bfa was beyound broken.

Lvl 10 prot paladins aren’t missing anything that warrants a judgment hitting for 50% of an elite mobs health
They have shield of righteousness, avengers shield, consecration, judgement, etc, basically every attack they ever get.
I understand buffing some damage on a class that is missing a bunch of other spells and things that help them later. But I don’t know how we’re acting like a tank 2 shotting dungeons mobs is alright lol

Is this a bad thing?. It’s not like I will be competing against a lvl 15 on endgame content, even better I will now try to do more dungeons while leveling because there will be people killing things faster.
