Can we stop with the gloom and doom about Dragonflight?

Thanks!

Call me out when you see this. I’ll tell you what amazing thing Blizzard did to win back my affections. I can’t wait to find out what it’ll be.

Whatever they do to bring me back, it’ll be great for soloers because I’m mainly leaving due to having nothing left to do and no promise of more to do in Dragonflight.

If you see an announcement that Archaeology is making a return, expect me to pop up that day. I’m plenty outraged, but that has nothing to do with me unsubscribing, as much as I’d like for it to be about my feelings.

They failed to make sufficient content for me this expansion, and next expansion isn’t looking good either. That’s all it comes down to. If that gets fixed, I’m back again.

We’ll see, I suppose.

Youll be grinding renown and anima. They dont talk much about it but thats still the system.

There is no anima-related grind in Dragonflight. If there were, we’d know about it by now.

Renown is not the same as it is in Shadowlands. It’s replacing reputations in zones. It’s ultimately the same thing.

You can use space and i think z or x to change pitch

lol
now, if only they didnt have a four expansion history now of NOT listening and doing exactly opposite of what should have been done…then doubling down and and even lowering themselves to insulting their paying customers.

Respect is given until its lost.
when its lost, you have to EARN it back.
Till then, you dont get it.

We do know about it. Its dragon isles resources to “aid in the fight against primalists”

So basically you arent even paying attention to Alpha but want to tell us how great it is.

Well yes of course
Why? Because “Trade chat” is a forum as well - a good way to remind yourself of these things is by looking at the definition of a forum; “a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.”

What I am referring to, are the folks who actively play the game, not the ones talking about the game - I am a hardcore WoW player, but I don’t even get close to the hours put into the actual game as some of my guildmates, I know a person who has leveled every single race combination of hunters possible, I think twice or three times over now
That’s the type of player who actively plays the game, but we don’t see 'em because they do their own thing, its a MMO - this is how you play 'em, you play 'em the way you see fit

Yah’, of course folks will talk about Blizzard being stupid when they are stupid, which happens a lot … but it doesn’t happen nearly as frequently as folks like to pretend it does, or even the way folks argue about the whole thing
But the active playerbase, those are always going to be the silent majority - even if you get a few thousand people looking or reading at a thread here, yah’ it is big and part of it will have elements that’s representative of the larger playerbase but… even a few thousand pales to the millions of active players

Point is as simple as this ultimately: folks will complain on forums, because that’s where people go to complain - whilst others level a fourth set of hunters from every single race, all whilst waiting to be able to do it all over again once DF releases

Yeah I’m sure that if I quoted your points out of context I could make you look like a moron, too.

Emphasis on reputation here, genius. It’s going to be the same thing as reputations. I doubt they’re going to attach power to renown the same way they did with Shadowlands.

There aren’t any systems from Shadowlands in Dragonflight. There isn’t an AP grinding system. If these were part of the game, they’d be in there already because they are core features. They are not in alpha, so it’s safe to assume that they won’t be. This is not rocket science, my guy. Borrowed power systems and covenants have been the largest points of contention for the player base and Blizzard has already openly committed to more evergreen systems. I understand that we don’t trust Blizzard here, but the outrage that would come from them sneaking in systems that they already confirmed wouldn’t be in the game would be catastrophic.

Unless Blizzard has an entirely different build they plan on releasing for the beta that looks nothing like the alpha, it’s not going to be in the game. Your emphasis on:

Is just your weird obsession with marketing buzzwords. It means nothing.

Kinda hard to do that when pally (ret specifically) looks worse than it has been in the last 3 xpacs.

Retribution has been a dumpater spec for 7+ years, and it will be 10+ if they go into live the way the tree is now.

We have no
Group utility
Movement
Defensive cd’s
Most rets lose utility compared to other xpacs
Loss of LoH
Mediocre damage
And even though they know paladins as a whole (vast majority) hate the steed we have to spend FOUR talents to make it worse than what we have now.

I was excited for DF but as of right now whats happening to paladins on the talent tree’s is very very very disheartening

Edit: heck rets even have talent that makes our consecration do 10 extra damage for a whopping 81 per tick…
Oh lets not forget the ret talent that makes consecration heal friendly targets for 61 per sec, yes that is also a talent and yea I did say 61… just 61… for a talent point…

And dont get me started on the 2% speed and avoidence talent.

But its ok blizzard removed one of the most asked for pally abilities to come back, long arm of the law. They brought it back and everyone was excited, then they immediately removed it. What they said for their reason was not only insulting but incredibly eye opening to the fact that blizz lied to us again. They are not listening, nor will they ever.

Huge amounts of feedback given on feral, almost all of it saying the same thing.
No changes other than swapping two talents around.

When we say “Blizzard is not listening” it is because in this, the record shortest alpha, which will be followed by the record shortest beta, they are not listening.

When you list this

Those are all great things.
That’s basically us getting the profession overhaul that we were supposed to get for Shadowlands (lol remember that?) and them undoing lots of things they shouldn’t have ever done in the first place.

The biggest issue Dragonflight has now is that I fully expect Blizzard to “kind of” follow through on their promises. They will “kind of” take some small amounts of feedback. They will “kind of” stay away from borrowed power. They will “kind of” avoid forced and mandatory grinds… but I do think there will be some levels of borrowed power and mandatory grinds by the end of the expansion.

Timegating is still here.
Vault of disapointment is still here.
And ion said in the Hazel interview that the dev team is happy with how both of those things were working. I’m pretty sure that these by themselves is going to end up as a mandatory grind. Unlock your disapointment slot and get your timegated valor are, by themselves, mandatory grinds and lock you into several mostly disliked system loops.

At this point “cautiously optimistic” is really the best that most people can do.
Blizzard is fantastic at grasping failure at the last possible moment, and they do NOT have a lot of time to polish Dragonflight.

You’re asking people who have invested years of their hard earned money to stop giving feedback on a product they’ve enjoyed for years.

You do understand that negative comments and or complaints is not something a corporation such as Blizzard should ignore if they value their fans and the I.P…

I get tired of people saying stuff like this and shilling for a corporation such as Blizzard, Marvel or Disney.

If it’s garbage, it’s garbage and it should be said until they fix it or adjust course. If they don’t want to take that route then come out and say it, and stop stringing your fans along for as much money as you can get and if DF turns out to be un-fun. I’m done with Blizzard and any product they produce.

Here is hoping LOL will meet expectations if DF fails.

90%+ people on this forum would have nothing to talk about without the “doom and gloom”. Don’t you know it’s cool to bad mouth WoW?

Im not badmouthing them for no reason. Things need to be talked about. God knows ret players have tried for years, we just keep being ignored.

But like the poster above said if DF is bad im out on all blizz products. The story, art, music etc could all be amazing but if my favorite spec remains ignored and forgotten for over 10 years that is pathetic. Nobody would enjoy any game if the avatar they experience it through feels terrible to play, which ret undoubtedly has for many years.

You seriously think Blizz is going to not have a mandatory grind in DF?

Problem is, Blizz has lost a lot of customer faith, and they should be doing everything in their power to build it back. However, every time they’ve had an easy win, they have somehow bottled it. They want us to believe they have changed, but have done things that show evidence they are just the same old Blizz. Players will only believe them so much before they realize it’s the same song and dance they have been pulling for the last several years.

For sure, and for what it’s worth, I do think the talent tree situation is arguably the most pressing issue right now. However, I also think it’s important to recognize that the average player will probably not scrutinize these systems in the way we do on the forums. Most people just play the game to have fun and they aren’t focused on the more minute details on their class or character.

Compared to the many things I’ve listed being removed from Shadowlands, I would say that they are far more pressing issues because they are much more invasive on the moment-moment gameplay and experience for the average player. The fact that they are being removed does tell me that, to some extent, Blizzard is listening. Blizzard could have buckled down on their design philosophy with Legion, BfA, and Shadowlands and they didn’t.

Blizzard should listen to players, I 100% agree with this. Ultimately, them listening will almost always lead to a better experience for everyone even if the average person doesn’t realize it, but I don’t think some talent trees being somewhat broken are emblematic of the game being ruined, which is more or less my issue. Perhaps this is just my experience with the game obfuscating the issue, but I’ve hardly ever known this game to not have broken talent trees for some classes. It’s not exactly surprising that the same issue persists.

Does that excuse it? No. Is it a death knell for the game? Hardly.

I never asked anyone to stop giving feedback. I asked everyone to stop being drama queens about the state of Dragonflight.

So many of you keep calling me a shill without understanding that I’m in the same position as you. I am severely skeptical of Blizzard’s ability to make Dragonflight a good expansion. I understand that it being alpha means nothing in the larger scope of WoW’s development. I’m just saying that I do think, all things considered, Dragonflight is in a much better state than Shadowlands is.

My whole intent with this thread was to call out the exaggerated outrage, not shill for Blizzard.

Yah. But rest assured, something uber irritating is going in there. There will be a funnel - there always is. These people are not making a console game that you buy once and enjoy forever. They don’t have to have a quality open-world experience - cheaper to promise updates that never arrive.

You will NOT be left alone to consider it objectively - you might notice the source of the stream of steamy diarrhea you’ve been swimming around in - nope, just funneled into repetitive ‘content.’

If and when that happens, then I will gladly eat my words and call out Blizzard’s nonsense. However, I think the important thing to understand here is that many MMO systems are generally built on repetition. I don’t mind repetition. I mind what I’m getting in return to do that repetition.

If it’s some arbitrary power grind the same way azerite/artifact power were? Garbage.

If it’s something more meaningful? That’s a little better.

As it stands, nothing about the former is in the game.

Until i know theres a decent path for solo players to gear up, and not by forcing us in to their M+, Raids, or PvP, i have zero plans on buying, or even wanting to play DF.

JMO.
