Can we remove layering?

It makes the world feel less alive, it’s being exploited, and it does nothing to help the queues. People are spread out now. So what is it accomplishing?

There is no way right now. There are a ton of people on the servers. They upped servers to 30k and there are STILL full Q’s. If they removed it now, quests would be impossible.

As Mithoes stated, it is a necessity right now. Without layering, the game would be near impossible to play. Back before layering and sharding was done, servers would crash. Boats would sink underwater. Zeppelins would disappear.

As Mith and Bro stated, no way right now. The world would be impossible to enter, and level within.

I’d love to at least see what the game would be like with out it.
As of now, this doesn’t feel like Classic at all.
On a server with a queue and still don’t see anyone anywhere.
That’s not how the game is supposed to be at all.

Honestly though, after seeing that dude level the last few levels to 60 abusing layering, I really lost a chunk of interest in this product.

That is really disheartening to hear people go nuts over an addon and have it broken, but then allow stuff like that on a stream with 250k viewers.

they have already said layering has nothing to do with the ques though.

I know that. My point is, there are 30k people on a server at any particular time for many/most servers and for every person leaving there is a person in Q waiting to take their place.

There is just no way.

But what does that have to do with layering…layering does not affect the que according to blizz…so I fail to see the point of it even being a thing

Then you are dense. I’m not going to spell it out.

they should at least reduce the amount of layers for now…

We can’t. Blizzard can. Although would they?

Layering is permanent. When 30,000 level 60s are heading to MC each week do you really think we’re going to fit through the hallways?

I’ve only noticed layering once so far, when I couldn’t trade with a guildie until we joined group. Other than that, the technology has been very unobtrusive.

I agree that the layering technology does need to be removed at some stage. But I don’t think that time has come quite yet. I’m happy for it to be removed at the end of the second week, or thereabouts.

Layering lets more players log into a realm. More layers = more people playing.

With additional layers, you increase the total capacity of the realm. If you increase the capacity enough, there’s zero login queue.

I see people literally everywhere still… except my zones im leveling in sorta. Im 28, so most people arent near me yet, its a little scarce to see someone. but everywhere else is crowded to all hell

If the cap is 30k, which is a lot. 2x more than Nostalrius, why not lock the server when cap is reached getting rid of layering altogether? I believe this would reduce queues immensely, I say this because the only reason I think queues are so massive is because the server cap has been overflowing, people keep creating characters on these full realms all because Blizzard won’t lock them and then players wonder why they have such a massive queue

Cap the servers at 30k, make new realms as servers become full. Remove layering, offer transfers once a year for dead realms and have a nice day.

Being on a full realm atm and not seeing the congestion is disheartening and doesn’t feel like Vanilla, the world feels hallow when it should feel alive.

Completely agree.

Blizzard was 100% right about layering and the nochanger zealots all look like idiots now. The only way Classic can cope with the queues is for Blizz to double down on layering and add way more.

They can increase the amount of people per layer at least

No they cant. The server maxes out at 30k, adding more layers wont allow the servers to host more.

Agreed. Massive queues and tens of thousands of people playing on a given realm, but thanks to layering, it actually feels underpopulated and barren. This isn’t vanilla.
