I’m not on a server with queues, and I still see a ton of people. Could only imagine the chaos lack of layers would do to a full server.
I want you to get 7 plainstrider beaks with 12,000 people in the barrens. Have fun.

I keep seeing the same people over and over. It’s actually amazing. I haven’t even noticed the layering. I think it’s been really well done. There are people everywhere I go and many I am familiar with.
I can imagine on a realm with queues, the likelihood of that happening for you is dramatically decreased. Layering is not affecting me on a medium realm. On a full realm, I’m sure it impacts.

What server are you on? I’m on one of the newest ones and can’t even farm cloth because every mob is camped 24/7 by multiple 5 man groups.
The only way i have noticed layering so far is in the capital cities, they feel soo empty.
Add more servers to each realm when they increase the number of layers allowed…
If one server can handle 10 layers with 30k players, two servers can handle 20 layers with 60k players, three servers can handle 30 layers with 90k players, etc.

Where are you guys getting 30K as the current server cap? I saw an article mention 30K queues but where has Blizzard stated 30K is the “Full” population before queueing begins? That seems like way too many to me.

Layering is just Phasing that doesn’t check quest progress.
The server capacity is the same regardless of layers. Layers prevents you from waiting in line for mob respawns because everyone started in the same zone.
What layering does is make a server feel less populated to preserve your gameplay experience until players spread out more.
Dumping 30k people into a single layer in a game designed to accommodate by all estimates 5k or less is a bad idea.
You add more servers to the realm as you add more layers to the realm…
That’s not how anything works.
Phase 2 will completely remove layering without affecting server capacity. You are provably wrong.

I don’t have any problem with layering as long as it’s gone by phase 2, but I do wish they would at least do this. I’ve seen quite a few people around and have had to hop zones to avoid areas that are farmed to death, but I mean it’s launch week, crowded servers are part of the experience. I’d still like to see more players.
Yeah layering was and is a huge mistake, I went to STV today and was depressed to see how empty it was and then to just roll over the same 4 people. If it continues like this it’s going to be hard to play.
Having gone through two of the starting zones. I can tell you right now.
The starting zones, and even one zone after, are so packed. If there
was no layering. No one would be getting anything done.
I would hate to see those same zones without layering.
