if we could just… actually get consistent use of these abilities from the bosses.
it wouldnt be the headache it can be.
most bosses with ICD abilities, don’t have abilities that conflict with it.
have 2 conflicting ICDs on a boss can make for some really rough RNG cases.
please just get rid of that fir IC HM.

What abilities/fights are you refering to?
He’s referring to the fact that in order to kill HM Iron Council, you have to wait to kill medium guy until he places down a Rune of Power. The problem with this is that he likes to wait a completely random amount of time to do it once it comes off CD, and sometimes all of his abilities can be off CD at the same time and he randomly chooses which one to use. So you’re sitting there with the boss at 2% health hoping dots don’t kill him before he casts Rune of Power, and if he does accidentally die without casting it, there’s a good chance you’re wiping.

We just burned him yesterday without waiting for a new rune.
So you definitely don’t need to wait for him to place a fresh rune to burn steel breaker.

Sure, and to be fair I didn’t say it was definitely a wipe, just a good chance unless you have very good DPS.
Agreed with OP, this fight is very un-fun. The RNG nature of molgheim mechanics doesn’t add anything to the difficulty of the encounter, it’s more frustrating than anything. Nothing like waiting for a single rune of power while molgheim has dropped two rune of deaths already.

The ol power into immediate death is great
Iron council is 1 of 2 fights that my guild still wipes to.
Most wipes are from bad timing on rune/death.
We CAN kill em without p3 rune but the buffed deathrune combo annihilates people and it’s a wipe
The other fight is freya but that’s because we’re all dumb and haha lashers go boom

Yeah, it’s pretty awful. My guild kills it before the first tank dies, but getting trolled on the runes is just not fun. Sometimes he just… doesn’t cast it. And then we’ll have him at 2%, he finally casts it and INSTANTLY drops the death rune on top of us. And delaying the runes isn’t even his only tactic. How about dropping the rune under Steelbreaker while he’s casting Fusion Punch?
We had a wipe on Freya last night to trash that was at least 100 yards away getting pulled somehow. Nobody knows what happened.
We are like 88 weeks in.
Everyone should out gear the encounter lmfao.
The RNG is part of the challenge of the fight. The object of HMs is to rise to the challenge…

I actually agree with the OP
There’s challenging then there’s just crappy unfair rng. Some fights are created to be a challenge, but when you fail that challenge you are left thinking “I just gotta play better” like Mimiron for example. Mimiron doesn’t have good and bad rng, it’s very controllable and almost all failures come from players failing mechanics.
Then there’s fights where you can do everything right and unavoidable circumstances can derail you. And that is the measure of a poorly designed fight. IC absolutely falls into this for the reasons mentioned.
No I don’t want it changed, it is what it is. And yes good guilds can overcome it and succeed. But a good portion of the game would wipe with that bad rng overlap and that’s not a failed player mechanic. That’s just bad luck

Its called iron casino for a reason lmao.
In a real note i was not a fan progging. But the excitement you get when everything lines up on a pull and youre blasting to meet a dps check is fun.
you could just have rune man drop a rune when he dies, though that would simplify the fight to an insane degree, sometimes he just kills you with his grief but most of the time he doesn’t
We had 2 RoPs overlapping. I said it’s a trap. Raid didn’t listen… bet everyone can guess what happened next.

Bad rng from death and power combo also still cause a wipe.
Everyone does t realize this fight was never done like this back in the day.
Tanks P3 without Runes was the way. Tanks would die multiple times and thats how the encounter went.
This is exactly how my guild did it back in 2009. Stop the historical revisionism.
