As the title says, I HATE this ability, its not appealing, interesting, well designed, or anything really, it’s a sorry waste of talent points that should have never left the idea list, and being pigeonholed into it because I wanna go Blood San’layn has been a massive slap in the face…
Well I mean it’s already a 100% must have so not sure why you wouldn’t take it anyways…
I like the design and everything regarding it, the only problem is that when you don’t have it you lose tons of dps/hps/tankieness, but you should have it up pretty much every pull for m+ (haven’t done raid cause raids are boring).
when you are taking damage and burning through boneshield charges, its good, like really good, especially in pvp with the shorter cooldown, but when you are on the dummy its bad.
I might be reading this post incorrectly, are you saying you do not want Dancing Rune Weapon? Dancing Rune Weapon gives you 35% parry chance, so it is a must have defensive spell as well as offensive spell in all blood specs. What is the alternate?
I do think wasting GCD on it as well as having to target something to use is very unsatisfying on the gameplay level. Immersion-wise I also think this isn’t as cool as say DH metamorphosis, or warrior avatar. Why can’t they make it a floating shade of DK like a Wraith Walk looking thing instead of a floating weapon you cant even see well.
That would actually be so cool
If you aren’t using drw on blood, you’re actually trolling.
It increases parry, helps you stack bone shield, triples all your base abilities, lets you have 3 stacks of blood plague up on enemies, and even lets you triple proc a soul reaper.
Now, if you want to argue that vamp blood is more fun because it’s easier to lower cd for uptime, I can get behind that one.
I just feel it’s a case of a poorly done ability, there are so many better designs for a defensive for DK, hell there are dozens of better designs of this ability with the same gimmck, instead it gives a lame looking invisible pet holding a sword…
there’s just…millions of better designs for a defensive over this awful execution, I understand it’s a good ability…but I HATE it’s design…literally any other design for a core defensive would be better
I get it’s a good ability, but I really hate the design…it’s a case of a I hate the way it works…If it just gave me more attack speed and the parry chance…or did…literally anything else, I wouldn’t have an issue…I just hate that this is the DK core defensive…
I run it because I’m pigeonholed into running it because its the forced core defensive, I hate this ability more then I hate 30 second stuns, I hate the design, you have million’s of potential options for a defensive for blood DK…and it’s this…lazy design
its not really a defensive.
Fair…It’s a buff…but still, I hate it’s design, plenty of better designs, and we get this…
Every use of this ability fills me with immeasurable disappointment
You might enjoy FFXIV Dark Knight then.
You get an ability that makes you summon a literal Shade of your Self-Esteem to fight alongside you.
It’s been an iconic Blood ability since Wrath.
It’s not going away, I’d love to spec into it more.
Like every X runes spent or X Boneshield consumed you generate a Dancing Rune Weapon for X sec.
Lemme run around with an army of floating swords!
Dancing Rune Weapon is from Naxx.
Which is? Just saying something is poorly done, or there are better ways of doing something, and not actually explaining what those are doesnt help what you are saying. Whats so bad about it? Increasing your attack speed would do nothing in replicating what DRW provides. Attack Speed is just auto attacks so you get less damage and the same parry just because you dont like an ability? Your idea would be worse in just attack speed and parry buff.
As much as I want much more from San’layn and RotA, Deathbringer seems like an option for you OP.
Personally I love it, its my favorite blood ability. And its perfectly fitting for the class; sure it may not be ‘deathy’ but the rune weapon is an important aspect of the death knight, too.
And i hated it since wrath, its the reason i just never really stick to my DK, because im forced to use an ability that IMHO could do nothing and be better design wise…I still remember back in wrath getting this ability and using it for the first time and thinking to myself “that’s it?” and im not saying get rid of it…but plz don’t make it the forced core ability of Blood DK…or at the very least, make it more interesting design wise…and yes i do play Dark Knight in FF14
It’s lazy by design, we literally just had a raid where the boss had a floating sword 2 xpacs ago, and you’re telling me the best blizzard can do with it on DK, is to spawn an invisible copy of my character holding the weapon?
I don’t like the idea of deathbringer either, im a BLOOD death knight, not a shadowfrost death knight
I’m not saying to remove it, im asking to either not make it a borderline core ability, or do better on it’s design…spawning an invisible copy of my character holding the weapon, is arguably the laziest design possible
this just seems to be a you problem. there is nothing wrong with the spell, you are just complaining for attention.
If you have nothing constructive to add, please don’t post, I hate lazy design, and this ability is the apex of lazy design, I know there is “nothing wrong with the spell” but if you had spent any amount of time reading my complaints it has to do with the design, as a game designer myself, this ability is painful to use, it would have been better if it was just a buff…it’s like asking an employee to wash the dishes so he puts soap on them while he urinates on them…it would have been better if he just did nothing instead of disrespecting me
its not lazy design. if you want flash go play a paladin.
have you considered taking your own advice?
Let me ask you, why shouldn’t I criticize elements I don’t like in a game I enjoy, that expects me to pay $240 a year, on top of an extra $60 every 2 years just to play it?
because nobody else cares about the animation of DRW, there are real problems the devs should be working on.
