Vulpera Demon Hunters
In the now discarded RPG both Humans and Orcs were demon hunters and could be found prowling Mount Hyjal for Demons that got away. A legacy of the Third War.

When somebody asked for Zandalari Warlocks some people argued Demoniacs were closer to DHs than to Warlocks.
Alright then. I’m asking for Zandalari DHs now.

It exists but I wouldn’t bank on it being a class. In the lore there are human dh’s too though I think they’d be the last class to get em.
Draenei and orcs NEED to happen.

Illidan tried. If you read the lore or the novel only elves had the resistance to withstand the creation process

im lucky as hell for having the demon hunter option on my favorite race the belfs but… if you have a complaint go visit illidan and complain to him, he is the trainer responsible for the class existence to begin with.
but if i have to guess, you will never have what youre asking for, the first reason is because the legion got from the most part defeated, the second reason is because compared to other classes becoming a demon hunter in a lore perspective is very hard, like 1/10 person can become one, and you need to consider those 10 arent regular people either since they are thirsting for revenge as a support for the training to become a dh in the first place

and even some of the elves who passed “initial” training still could lose control of their fel and vaporize under certain circumstances, as shown by that one guy sitting by the tent who went “boom” after you let him out of the energy sapping cage and then tried to teach him metamorphosis a few quests later. that and certain races (void elves) would explode anyways due to the unstable interaction of fel and void in their bodies. the only real “candidates” i see for new demon hunters are: orcs (gul’dan as a warlock handled an impressive amount of fel constantly), draenei (we’ve seen fel draenei before, and strong enough drainei have retained a semblance of sanity and reasoning), and nightborne as elves with arcane inclinations and fel affinity.
All changed lore from when it was just the RTS. Originally Humans and Orcs were also Demonhunters, and Illidan was not their leader, just one of the most famous. Demonhunters were a common class, moreso after the Third War as mopping up efforts became more intensive. This all changed with BC, only Night Elves could become Demonhunters for some reason and all of them Illidari, he went from being the most famous DH to their leader. He tried making a BELF DH but it went insane and was imprisoned in SSC. This lore changed for a THIRD time with Legion, now there are tons of Elf DHs. This lore can and will likely change again to accommodate the developers storytelling desires.
But a running list so far of good races for DH:
- Orc
- Human
- Draenei
- Troll
- Void Elf
- Nightborne
The only way this’ll happen is if the Legion makes another comeback where new demon hunters will be needed. There’s zero lore justification for more demon hunters in the current moment, or for demon hunters other than the ones Illidan trained to be walking around.

Well since The Burning Legion has been defeated and next expac deals with death and old gods, Lore wise it would not make since for any other race from Azeroth would volunteer their soul and risk their lives to become a Demon Hunter when there are no more demons to hunt… just saying

Well lore wise, no not gonna happen.
only reason elves are demon hunters (not because he’s racist, he dislikes everyone)
but mostly because only a few rare demon hunters are out there, like 1 human known that is.
and the reason for that is because it is easier for elven races to hold back the demon souls they consume and hold prisoner in there bodies.
Some elves do die from this and end up going into the twisting nether that where demons come from

My first thought is that for Alliance, the new DH race should be gnomes, but…
We have Dark Irons now, so I’m thinking maybe they’d be the best choice. Just imagine stout, bearded, fiery heavy metal demon hunters and how strongly they’d contrast with their elven brethren.
