Does not mean desktops are dying, just means more people worldwide have access to cheap cell phones and then there’s that whole IoT thing skewing the results. Also, that site is an absolute mess and I think I got VD just going there.

It counts. Plus you know very well wow could easily run on a galaxy s23. There’s no reason to ignore Android.
lol, I guess I missed where this thread went from supporting linux to running wow on android. I have no earthly idea how well wow could run on an s23 nor why anyone would want to even try.
Desktops are fine, Blizz is not going to support Linux for a myriad of reasons and you seem to be mad at the world in general.
I’m not mad in the slightest. I just want to play wow without all these hassles. Every argument that was made i destroyed. Holding onto a sinking ship isn’t a good idea.

It’s no hassle to play wow at all. Just hit the windows key, start typing battlenet then click on the launcher. Once that’s open, click play and enjoy wow.

Same here, also used to be heavy Unix (SCO) back in my admin days, and that comment was spot on. We were the sweaty M+ tryhards of the OS community.
So why is everyone against the idea of supporting more platforms? Seems really fishy that it must ONLY support Windows.
There’s only one entity against supporting linux, that’s blizzard and it’s the only one that matters. There’s no money in supporting linux apparently so they choose not to. It’s not a damn conspiracy man, just accept it and move on.

Because people on these forums are miserable and will argue about anything even when the things they are arguing against does not impact them at all.
Unless you are running Linux on a ARM cpu it wouldn’t help. Mac is in it’s own bubble at the moment.
There’s tons of money. Windows isn’t even the most used platform anymore. You can easily install Windows 11 and run android games. Blizzard is going to go out of business if they refuse to adapt. I’m right and you know it and you hate that I’m right. They need to support Android or they’ll continue to hemorrhage paying customers.

Pretty sure there’s a reddit post from an indie dev on the nightmare it is to support anything on “Linux”.
Also Mac = Metal, Linux = OpenGL. There are API’s that will work with both, but I doubt Blizzard is using some third party library. Probably all homebrewed.
Honestly, steam has done the heavy lifting. In that regard… with proton… they’ve actually sunk a lot of money in wine development…
