I have played several games where we had 2 prot paladins in our lobby, instead of healers, and it was not so bad.
Mage takes so much DMG, zero mitigation, if focused a healer will not make a real difference, at least not at 1600. Melee has a 100% uptime, hunters just melt mages. Other casters too.
prot paladins are basically healers despite the prot players that hate being healers in SS
but trust and believe, if you think it’s bad now, it would be much worse
you also have plenty of mitigation. definitely more than zero. definitely less than others that have never played mage think, tho
Mage has 1 barrier that’s gone after 1 or 2 hits tops. The barrier takes 100% DMG from everything, so does the mage. If you are saying mage does not drop faster than any other class you are not being honest. I don’t just play mage.
We need a real fix to the queues, and that involves incentivizing healers to play solo shuffle or people to play alt healers rather than making the game crappy by getting rid of healers.
It’s because you’re just bad and wont accept that and move on. If you accept it then you can work on getting better and quit blaming others. Frost and arcane are really good right now.

mage has alter time, stun/root blink, block, block heal, displacement, blast wave, ring of frost, double nova, mirror image (admittedly terrible), 60% wall on ginvis, cone of cold, spammable slow, etc
i play more than mage too and the difference between a mage who knows what he’s doing vs one that doesn’t is night and day
don’t get me wrong, i’m not saying mage is busted or even well off in the current meta. warrior/monk/rogue/feral mobility negates most of the kiting tools we have when fighting solo, we still melt to hunters, DKs obviously counter us being casters, and shamans are probably our biggest hard counter currently, but it’s not impossible to live as a mage
None of this is DMG mitigation. lol 3 seconds dmg reduction on greater invisi, that’s it. Other are no DMG mitigation.

With the mobility melee has, it is not realist to avoid DMG, there is not only melee in this game, hunters just trash mages. When I go against mage and I have a hunter on my team, we just go mage, it will ALWAYS take unhealable DMG, very fast.
As a mage, you can only hope people don’t go you. If they do you are done, you can’t DPS, nor CC.
i hate to say it but you’re 1500 as Arcane and 1100 as Frost, and while I can’t get your profile to come up on check pvp for some reason you have a <50% win rate in 2s so i imagine it’s similar or right at 50% in SS
given your other classes are probably similar rating, you’re facing mages that are like you, and the reality is you just don’t know how to play mage effectively. it is what it is, but these takes are just as bad as those from people who think mage is a god class
your perception is not reality. i’d recommend studying good mage streams/vids to see what they are doing that you are not
This is what I was talking about in a different thread a few days ago. Had you posted up looking for mage advice or something you would have been met with helpful responses.
But instead you’re doubling and tripling down on how the class is bad and it’s not your fault despite empirical evidence to the contrary. You just have a lot to learn man and that’s totally fine. We’ve all been there and this is a good place to find info. But you’re not succeeding because you’ve already beat it into your own head that it’s outside your control. You’ll never improve going into games thinking like that. Honestly.
No. Healers have a right to play and enjoy the game. I wish people would stop calling for their removal every time someone experiences a mild inconvenience.
If they balanced it around not having healers, then they can easily do class targeted modifiers specific for RSS only. IE: Mages take X% reduced damage in RSS only
Just saying this isnt a insurmountable issue.
DPS have a right to play and enjoy the game aswell, but unfortunately healers are creating a bottleneck because they are required for content and gatekeeping them from even experiencing the game.
Healers have nothing to do with this. We did not design the game mode, nor the limitations set for. We just exist within the same space. Blame Blizzard.

Blizzard can’t handle the balancing duties they have now. You’re going to add additional modifiers in order to attempt to exclude part of the playerbase for the benefit of another part of the playerbase?
