My friends and I all were really excited to come back to the game for the pre-patch and with cross-faction play enabled. We were rather upset though upon learning that for some reason you cannot play cross-faction in random(unrated) battlegrounds. Why is this restriction in place? Horde players can queue up as Alliance, but for some reason we can’t queue up together. We were very confused as to why this is in place and were curious as to why this restriction is enabled since the Horde players can queue up for battlegrounds as an Alliance player already.
Not sure why it picked my Classic WoW character, but just to be clear I’m talking about retail Dragonflight prepatch.
Nope. You filthy alliance stay over there.
cross faction groups should be enabled imo, the faction of the group leader should determine which team they play for.
You can cross-faction in casual PVP…
you just have to be horde to do so.
Game doesn’t have PVP developers that play casually so your words has gone to deaf ears. Good luck and try again.
I completely agree. So if my best friend wants to play a night elf Druid while I’m on horde, we should have the option to quê as alliance faction with alli buff for queuing. And vice versa for ally to horde in group management.
No.
Yeah, no real reason for it to be disabled honestly. I can only see it helping queue times as well since faction imbalance immediately becomes a non-issue.
Yes, please. Good idea!
It’d be nice to see this added. It would make queue times that much faster.
i only want merc mode on alliance so i can kill players on my team the next game. not for balance just for revenge.
I would hate cross-faction battlegrounds simply for the fact that I greatly appreciate the animosity towards the enemy faction. There’s a reason Horde and Alliance are not on friendly terms; it’s ingrained into the lore and story line quests.
I support cross-faction PvP for arenas because of the occasional scarcity of teammates.
You do realize that a lot of the “Alliance” players you are killing are actually Horde players, right?
Can you please explain how to do this?
Yeah I think it’s fine for rated content. But let’s keep the fun of faction conflict in randoms.
Imagine still caring about factions in 2022. All it does is divide people from their friends at this point and the only real reason Blizzard keeps the barrier is to get another 35 dollars out of you for a transfer.
I remember when the only real answer ever given to alliance about merc mode being horde-only was “queue times.” Many/most horde players will still sit in longer queues - sometimes even freakishly longer queues, for eBGS - to play on horde side. I’m fine with that, but the option ~should~ be given to alliance too; otherwise “but faction war” doesn’t make sense.
Good idea!
Finally a post worth reading. I deleted 90% of my btags a few months ago because we hadn’t played together in months+, but once upon a time being able to do some BGs with friends who prefer Ally over Horde would have been fun. I don’t see why they shouldn’t allow it.
I had also heard that this was coming for DF. So, I’m honestly a little disappointed it’s not implemented for casual content as my friends are a mixed bag
bumping this thread because this should be a thing already
