Can we not have level 79s in level 70 dungeons?

When queuing for RDF in early levels of WotLK, you can end up with people all the way up to level 79 in a dungeon for level 70s (Utgarde Keep and Nexus), which result in XP per kill going from high 2ks all the way down to less than 200 because of the anti-boosting system in place.

Lower the maximum level for those dungeons, it’s not fun for the higher level either because they get 0 XP since everything is gray for them.

Don’t you clear the dungeon 10x faster then?

Not even remotely close.
Level 79 don’t do much more than a level 70 does.

I ended up in lvl 70 through rdf at lvl 79.

I was the healer so i told people i planned to leave to not kill their exp. Took about 4 pulls in for them to realize i had said anything but i didnt want to cause their deaths by just leaving.

Sadly i still got the deserter debuff so i just stopped playing for the night, i was a few bars off 80, but blizzards amazing system wanted me to stop it seems.

You don’t clear 10 times faster, but you do get 10x less XP. Being facetious , but those green mobs don’t drop much XP.

It’s more beneficial for me to get a 30 minute deserter debuff and quest, then stay in a 70 dungeon at 79.

RDF needs to be set to not queue you for green dungeons. Kinda ridiculous that this isn’t implemented.

Your solution is wrong. You don’t need to get rid of the higher levels, you need to get rid of the anti-boosting system.

Yup the anti-boosting changes need to be removed. Lost a very fun part of the game, the ability to AOE farm dungeons for gold, because of the changes and the changes didn’t really even do anything about botting. It was a failed bandaid fix thought up by Brian benjamin, and since ya’ll got rid of him and added RDF, maybe it’s time to roll back some of the changes he made like this one too.

you get next to zero xp for the run tho. I d rather play with people my level range and not feel like dead weight just running along

Fixing it would reduce boost sales.

Exactly… when selling boosts is part of the strategy then anti-boosting was never the appropriate solution. Just let players have fun.

what boost? 80-85?
where can I buy one of those?

It is insane this has been around since TBC despite all our grievances with it.
When normal gameplay is affected like this, they went too far.
Boosting still goes on anyway so it’s not like it even worked.

I ended up in a few of these dungeons while trying to level. I was a 78 cat druid running Utgarde Keep with a level 69 paladin tank. As soon as I hit 80, I now cannot queue for any dungeons whatsoever.

has something changed drastically in prepatch? A month ago, a 79 healer in greens could easily do >50% of the group’s total damage. the power difference felt astronomical

Agree with OP, makes no sense to queue into a dungeon where half the mobs are grey

It’s sloppy design. RDF forms the group, putting someone too high in it, then punishes everyone for it. Furthermore, they stick you with deserter if you leave, even if your presence is causing everyone else to earn less XP.

Let me buy some gold so when you’re selling carry runs I’ll come out a winner!!

cmon now, like tokens you all know why Blizzard offers their own mechanics.

Lets be real the bonus of easy JPoints is more useful than less XP anyway.

Yep. It’s where they need to copy some more retail.

Put the xp on the rdf rewards. Mobs and bosses low xp is accepted in retail. The xp is in the reward. This is how they can worst case get even +20 levels in same run,

Level 59 gets levle 59 of xp reward. Level 39 gets level 39 Level of xp.

All that leaves is roll stomp rants. Which is a debate in itself. One side goes but I don’t want it easier. One side is going cool….out in record time, cool.

I am the latter tbh.
