no just let it die
I would be ok with the fixing of the garrison and making them more relevant with the ability to decorate and do other things. We really couldn’t do anything in our garrisons. I like the garden and fishing but you couldn’t decorate and such.
I have a home in other games and at no point was I “isolating” myself and not venturing out into the world. Heck, I have an entire island to myself in XIV and I still go out and do world content and group content. The point is to create a balance which Blizzard did not do with garrisons, they made all other content obsolete with the garrison, you had no reason to leave, this is where they failed.
Stop using garrisons as a weak argument against player housing because garrisons are nowhere near what people think of when they ask for it.
Yeah we had a lot to do ques and game wise in that garrison. I just want something cosmetic to play around with in between keys or waiting to raid. They could redo the garrisons into awesome housing and that would be fine too… tho I do still dig your tent idea quiet a bit also.
they won’t even expand our banks and bags meaningfully.
do you not realize how expensive a fully customizable house would be
the only way they’d not blow up their current infrastructure is if the housing would be stored locally only and that’d be a hilarious mistake with what trolls would do with textures if they weren’t being server checked.
Garrisons failed because you were railroaded to a handful of set ups and couldn’t truly customize it. Also because it did too many things and felt more like an outpost for the purposes of WoD than actual player housing. Home is, after all, somewhere you go to relax, not do mission tables.
You underestimate the ability to display trophies and collected weapons, to say nothing of decorating your house exactly as you want it with the amenities that make sense for your character.
Funny you should mention that, as I have a way to deal with that:
- Player house contains a 9x9 garden.
- The garden supports decorative flowers and Pandaria produce (since those already exist).
- Herbalists (and only herbalists) can plant stuff they pick in the overworld, in exchange for some reagent like fertilizer.
In theory, this means that while a garden is available in a standard house, only herbalists can plant stuff and harvest.
I would aim to add something similar for all professions. One idea I had was for Blacksmiths to be able to install their own anvil that allows for gear repair at a discount, engineers would get a teleporting pad that allows you to warp to any location you have a teleport device to (Ultrasafe Gadgetzan Transporter, Ultrasafe Toshe’s Station Transporter, etc), enchanters would get a ritual table that applies a buff for 2 hours that decreases gear degradation, and so on.
right but blizzard has this idea already, the reason we got garrisons the way they were is that they were player joinable (for things like the raids) so not purely local, and limited customization as a result.
and so your idea for housing basically boils down to “hey blizzard spend more money on the game”
lol quiet obvious this post isn’t for you then
I’d love to have a condo in one of the cities, A little balcony to land on and phase into a little space ala Panda farm and garrison. can walk inside and have some little space pf my own.
I don’t see it becoming a big part of my gameplay, but I’d like it, and I know some folks are clamoring for it.
Short answer: no
long answer: do you think this patch is good enough to last for minimum 18-24 months with no new content to allow the dev time for housing to be implemented, assuming you want more than a clone of garrisons?
If you really like to have player housing I suggest taking a look at new game Palia…has some great housing in it…free standing type movement …all kinds of machines to build to make your stuff …and gardening as growing you own food and trees like apple trees and blueberry bushes…its not much on the questing type game but the art work is great with different zones…you can hunt stuff with bow …and catch bugs and fish to display and that…but do check it out…its Free too…added bonus 3 of the Palia designers are originally from WoW.
JFC WoW players cannot uncouple Garrisons from player housing, despite every successful implementation of player housing in the MMO genre looking nothing like Garrisons at all. Like do you people ever play other games? Do you have any concept of what the games industry is offering? Hell, do you have an understanding of what other MMOs are offering? Why is WoW your only point of reference?
I tried Palia I didn’t dig it.
I love wow I enjoy raiding and mythic plus.
Just want a lil extra to do when I am killing time waiting or just bored but thanks for the recommendation I have heard many say they really enjoy it.
The old ‘It will take Dev time from MY favorite content so kick sand losers’ argument is pretty tired. They clearly are capable of doing more that one thing at a time.
You do have housing. It’s your garrison. Remember garrisons?
That is understandable now …I too wish we had a neat housing system I can’t top raid or pvp anymore, its hard for me just to do some dungeons and that now…I do mostly gathering and battle petting though the game…make my money with raw mats and Battle pets …but housing would give me something to do outside of what I do now…
ok just saying don’t be a jerk and for one eso has instance housing
the garrison thing was a way to give an example. that’s it
The Garrison is not player housing we had no choice in the matter of the style or placement of stuff like furniture or rugs and bookcases or armor stands…the Garrison is just a static copy for everyone…its looks the same for everyone…
Yessss I like your thinking!!
And you expect player housing would be any different? If we get player housing, we’ll get a pick of like 5-6 locations in the world which are phased, like garrisons or the MoP farm. You’ll have a pick of 5-6 different house styles with preset locations for furniture. You’ll decide what your furniture looks like, that’s it. All for what? How often will you go back there? What will you do there? Player housing would have worked if it had been implemented back in vanilla, like it was supposed to. Now, it’s never going to be anything more than flavor. Likely riddled with microtransactions too.
