I’m sitting here, feeling a bit bored. Yes, I know—how could I possibly be bored in WoW, right? New expansion, tons to do, yadda yadda. But here I am, still feeling it.
WoW has so much to offer, and I enjoy a lot of it heck mostly all of it But as an RP player, there’s one thing that leaves a sour spot for me: No housing. Why don’t we have housing in WoW?
No housing and lack of other RP acivities.
Kinda makes the RP community feel a little forgotten in an RP game imo
The old cities are so full of charm but largely forgotten. Housing could breathe new life into those areas, keeping them from feeling so dead. It’s frustrating that when I just want to build or tend to a virtual garden, I have to log out of WoW and into another game, when WoW is supposed to be the best game out there!
Don’t get me wrong, I raid, run mythics, and quest like everyone else, but sometimes I just want to chill. And for me, building, growing things & decorating my in-game space is how I like to relax.
I’ve been playing this game since launch, and sometimes it feels like the players’ voices aren’t really being heard. Can we please have housing, gardening, building—something to fulfill that creative itch? Are we really saying Blizzard isn’t capable of giving us something that so many other (smaller) games have managed to do?
I know the usual replies will come: “If you don’t like it, go play something else.” But that’s the thing—I love WoW. I don’t want to leave; I want to do it all within WoW.
Housing would be a win-win for both players and Blizzard. We’d get what we’ve been asking for, and Blizzard could monetize it with special items for our houses. Win-win, right?
I know this is something some will agree with, and others won’t, but I think it’s worth pushing for. Let’s make it happen Blizz Please!! lol

while i don’t mind the player housing it would have to be something like our garrisons
we don’t need players plopping down houses on rare spawns can we lol

very true!
that’s why I say in the older dead cities but making our garrisons housing would be a totally awesome idea
Make it an all in one I can have housing and the whole guild can come hang at my garrison. Win win!

Unquestionably it would be instanced. But it would also be designed like our garrisons because I doubt the game could handle a free placement system.
So we would have an instanced house, with specific points that we would have control over what is placed there.

i was asking this is the pre alpha build we could place homes anywhere

The game has room for housing in a way that makes sense. You could have standalone houses of different architecture available. You could also use a secluded (read:instanced) section of the current cities and maybe expansion cities (I’m sure there are people who would want to live in Val’draken. or Dornogal.
That said, you could probably use the phasing aspect of garrisons out in the world if you want to do something like homesteading. Like each expansion has an area that allows homesteading (since it’s popular, Grizzly Hills in Northrend, or Nagrand in Outland), you start with a small house and you pour money and resources into expanding your property until it’s fully functional (within reason; I wouldn’t go to the extent garrisons did, for one).
You could also take a page from FFXIV’s Ishgard restoration and add player housing in a rebuilt Dalaran, assuming that Blizzard plans to do that at some point.

I would buy a second sub if thats what it took to get player owned housing. It doesn’t even have to be particularily robust where we can build in any way we want. Just a building we can work towards furnishing and styling how we see fit.
And if there is any lessons to take away from garrisons, don’t make it required/META content. If anything, it should just serve as a cosmetic trophy/gold sink for us to make simply because we want to, rather than forcing everyone to spend every moment not in raid inside of it.

Id like a REAL tent.
Toy but inside can be decorated. Only usable outside cities, of course…but can setup anywhere. Gives rested and fast log outs. and mabye something to repair gear

Yeah I could go without building just let me collect things for my house and decorate and maybe like I said gardening. Being able to build it would be cool. But I’d be totally ok with just being able to decorate and garden or have crops something like that.

Player housing is a terrible idea for an mmo.
Maybe folks who cant afford a house irl are pushing for it to be addes in wow to fullfill some need, i dunno, but sounds like a silly thing after garrisons failed. Even if ur guild can visit you, whats the point? Isolating urself instead of being oit in the world. Its bad enough wow has become an autoqueue instance waiting lobby this would add to that and make it worse.

any sort of consistent nearly free source of gathering materials you click every few hours is going to make the gatherers mad like it did in wod

I’ve still got my farm in pandaria. I wouldn’t say no to expanding that a bit. Maybe even get a friend for Dog!

Yeah that would be perfect for garrison living
This right here. There should be no tangible benefit to housing, it should entirely be a cosmetic feature. Thats how pretty much every other MMO does it and it works great there.

That is a very ignorant thing to assume lmao.
I have a home I am just an RP player and that’s the kinds of things most of us like.
And wow does have a large RP community.

I mean dont forget runescape exists housing as a way to show off is mostly dead but people use it to level skills faster and to run bosses faster
ooo…what a about a big mammoth mouth with a huge tent on its back for housing? mailbox…repairs…no AH or quests or anthing to keep us inside…lots of spots for mounting things all about like Boss head trophies and such

Yes that is even a great idea. A tent that stays while I play with items to use that don’t disappear in 5 mins
I’d be happy with this idea also.

You eat food to regenerate health.
You drink water to regenerate mana.
Why would people who can venture across entire realms without rest need a house?
