Here is your stinking solution, Close the game down. Relaunch in a few days with 40 pvp servers, 20 pve servers and 10 RP server and set active subscription caps on servers. If 10,000 players choose a server you lock it and tell 6,000 players to pick another. The end.
There were no other servers except for the full ones, try again
Very simple just wait this is a pure nostalgia moment. Plus the in thing to do. Some probably forgot and some never new what a dirty grind to 60 then the grind to get your mount the the grind to get high level gear is all about servers will slow down a bit.
People on here faulting players for choosing full servers are just part of the problem, which is super sad to see. Activision have to be better for the sake of the player base, with that said I think they’re moving in the correct direction and most likely have something in place to compensate players who have not been able to play because of queues.
Option 2 assumes way too much to ever work. To have the servers reset at those times is not only a waste of time, but also pointless. If the server is reset the people that were playing would just log right back in along with all the “normal adults” coming home. This would do nothing but cause a queue again and not even ensure that anyone else has a chance to play that hasn’t already been online all day.
I’m not saying that I like the queues, but I really don’t see much of an immediate solution. I’m on a high population server and yes I know I should just reroll. But my entire reason for playing is to not only relive vanilla WoW, but to play with friends. It was just bad luck that the server also turned out to be one of the higher populations servers.
As a not “normal adult” I get a few minutes to play each day. The queue is low before work which leaves me with very limited time. When I get home from work which can be anywhere between 5pm and 11pm the queues are already 5 to 6 hours long. I can’t possibly wait that long knowing I have to work again the next day. I wouldn’t be completely opposed to some kind of reimbursement, but I know that will never happen.
Sorry for the long post
TLDR; Queues are causing playtime to be ridiculously small for full price. Nothing will be done about it.
If you’re facing massive queues night, then it is fair to assume you haven’t done much in game. The launch was on Monday afternoon. Just reroll on a server without queues.
It’s not rocket science.
I’ve done plenty that I don’t want to redo.
If only I had addressed the reason why I choose not to reroll. Yes, I realize it’s a choice. They’re all quite a bit further ahead of me now, but I enjoy the social aspect just as much as actually grouping.
Blizzard: WARNING WARNING WARNING!!! Herod will have EXTREME queues, please consider starting on another server!
OP: Nah, I’m good. Everyone else can go somewhere else.
a few days later…
OP: Blizzard, I have a job!!! I want a refund!
And what is going to be done when the dust settles?
Plenty of us, myself included have had to go on different realms than the people We wanted to play with.
Will we be allowed to transfer free of charge when everything is fixed? Or is this going to go down as another terribly handled situation by blizzard?
Option 2 seems to be the best way. Option 1 should be happening right now. Option 3? Nope. Let people waste their lives, it doesnt effect you in a meaningful way.
There are ways to get around the Q boss…Learn them. I’ve been able to play all week and work at least 60 hours
I just want to know how many servers I should reroll on before it is an acceptable number to complain? I just keep leaving friends behind to get some play time in, but now I have characters on 3 different servers and can’t get into any. I guess I will keep leveling only to rejoin the original server and have to level from scratch again and always be playing catch up.
I guess it is easy to say join a new server because no one cares about community anymore, and just throw out all the planning people did with guilds because half can’t login. It is what it is, but I understand why people would be attached to a server where everyone in game they know is on those servers.
Yeah, it is. But as the queues will show, some users can be dumb and hardheaded just like some of the devs have been at times.
The viable thing to do now is to offer free realm transfers again off crowded realms to medium and low pop realms. This used to happen quite often many years ago, it should be easy to implement.
Except a blue post is only available to those that actively look for it. Was it in the client? No.
Also, blizzard’s right hand was saying “dont roll on herod” while the left hand kept letting people make characters on it. You want to know how to actually control populations? You don’t let it get to that point. Square lives in like 2010 and knows how to prevent people from making characters on full servers.
Thats cool. The game I would want to play while waiting in queue is not an option. Please try again.
It is though, you’re just not able to handle the other player demand. The servers are there, you just need to wait.
This is like paying a $15 a month subscription so you can have a salad bar all month. Then you show up and it’s a 30 person line. Paying for access doesn’t mean you get to cut in line, it means you can form a line.
This is one of those situations i’d say you could cancel, but they’ve provided the service you want. That you have to wait in line is a customer problem. You shouldn’t get a refund or be able to punish them.
So you are telling me that every single person on the Herod server knew it would be full? I am hard pressed to say otherwise considering it was not in the client nor anywhere most players would actively look.
I would say less than half knew.
Maybe not, but even if you didn’t see any of the messages you still knew right away that the server was overwhelmed. It’s not like an 18,000 person queue just snuck up on you after 3 days. You still don’t get to blame blizzard and demand transfers and refunds.
I think people do have a right to blame blizzard.
You can’t tell people to not sign up on a server and then let them do it anyway. That’s not how this works.
