Just take my money please.

I second that. It helps driving away gold sellers.
No. back to retail please. bye.
you’re insane, the dude is 10/10 and you’re 5/10, and you asking him to go back to retail.
A large portion of TBC content is related to farming for professions, consumables, etc. Providing a way to skip all the farming would make all that “optional” you could just buy a lot of BiS gear and consumes, along with Epic mount, it short circuits the reward cycle of TBC content.
Now if they actually brought it out, I would definitely use it and my play time in TBC would plummet to raid log levels, the constant need to farm to get consumables for raiding would be at an end for me.
Retail keeps people engaged with systems which require daily “maintenance” if you want to do well, making them continue to play and engage with the game. The farming is all that does it after the initial rep grinds are done in TBC, meaning the WoW token would be a replacement for playing the game basically. I’d prefer to have to stay engaged to the game. Don’t do this please.
Unfortunately it is there currently anyway, gold farmers exist. And they do exist because of those people who just want to raid log and not be broke.
If anything, token could hurt botting and gold farming so it might not be a bad idea.
Who cares what they do anymore. Blizzard’s changed so much about this game. They don’t fix bugs and they refuse to talk to their players. Anyone who cared about TBC and wanted to play it is long gone or on their way out.
I think the token is a great idea. We get our gold, Blizz gets their money, and the gold sellers/bot farmers slowly disappear.
I would argue that gold selling is bad because it causes inflation. That is true whether Blizzard sells it or the current gold sellers do it. While adding the token may get rid of the annoying “players” and bots, it actually normalizes the act of buying gold and it becomes more difficult to NOT buy gold because of inflation.
its time to GO BACK
I don’t think this is a good idea at all. It can cause inflation in prices by a mile and not everyone wants/can buy gold.
You said it, people just want to raid log and not be broke. Who do you think is going to be farming and selling all those mats and consumes on the AH? Who is going to be buying from the gold farmers? Everyone who spends token money on the AH.
All the token does is make Blizzard a middle man. It’s good for Blizzard because it puts money in their pocket. It’s good for the farmers because fewer legitimate players bother to farm anymore. It doesn’t do anything good for the players and it doesn’t do anything about getting rid of bots or gold farmers.
I cant speak for every server, but I do know the AH on Westfall is pretty inflated already. Low level greens that were selling for 50 silver are now going for 2-3 gold, and twink blues are hysterically expensive now.
Its a business, their final goal is to make a profit, its to be expected.
So if players purchase from Blizzard legitimately instead of from gold sellers, how would the gold sellers stay in business? Better yet, why would they stay in business if doesn’t make them a profit?
Now that farming is easier, they can undercut the Blizzard token and still make a profit. Profit comes from both income and managing expenses. They could also use farmed/inflated gold to pay for accounts that are used which saves RL $.
I get it, however it has been shown that Blizz is capable of punishing those who buy gold. While it has been noted that the repercussions from Blizz haven’t been that severe, I would assume having all your gold and mounts taken account wide while having a couple of days ban would suck. Given the option of buying legitimately from Blizz or illicitly from a seller and risking an account ban, I would think the first would be a more popular choice. To add, there is a thread floating around the forums about someone who got scammed out of a ton of gold from trying to trade retail gold for TBC gold. The token could potentially be helpful in preventing this also. IMHO.
Translation: I’d prefer to have a poorly paid second job.
They undercut tokens, but gold isn’t the only thing they sell. They sell runs for real money, gear in GDKP’s, honor farming and whatever else. I really don’t know why people think tokens would solve anything, especially after retail proved it doesn’t.
This is going to happen with or without a token. GDKP’s are so common now, its just part of the environment. The option to participate is always there, take it or leave it. Off on a slightly different subject, why do people hate GDKP’S? Please keep in mind that this question comes from an ignorant source.
