Can we get the Jar of Sunwarmed Sand's cooldown reduced?

Jar of Sunwarmed sand is a toy that makes the world appear as though its midday, regardless of the actual time. It lasts for two hours and has a 24 hour cooldown. Its great for players like me who mostly play during the night, but the long cooldown is really annoying.

The night time equivalent, Shadescale, lasts two hours on a one hour cooldown. Change the Jar of Sunwarmed Sand to be in line with Shadescale.

Honestly, I don’t know why they have toys (Aside from Hearthstones) with such exorbitantly long cooldowns in general. An hour CD on a handful of toys instead of 24hr would be much more suitable.

Move to an oceanic server.

The sun is up all night and the stars come out every morning.

Ping is too high on OCE servers.

For OCE players who constantly play in darkness during our daytime hours (because our skybox and calendar is linked to the NA region) this would be a welcome change. Please remove the CD on the toy - a 24 hour CD is absolutely ridiculous.

Given the fact that this buff also doesn’t persist through death makes the 24 hour CD even more problematic. A small, easy change like this would go a long way with a lot of people, especially the OCE community.

I do agree toys like this shouldn’t have a cooldown at all though, as it’s a client side change that affects only the player.

Our day/night cycle is backwards because we’re part of North America.

If you live in Australia it’s night in game during real world day time, and sunny in game during real world night time.

There are a couple threads in the oceanic forums about it dating back a fair ways, one of them is capped I believe

Frankly, the real-world linked day/night cycles in WoW are really stupid.

If you’ve played a game with shortened cycles like Dark Age of Camelot, or heck, even Skyrim/Fallout, the shorter cycles make the world feel more dynamic.

Bring that to WoW.

I just wish they had accelerated day/night cycle and dynamic weather. Actually having seasons would be awesome as well.

As an Aussie, I’m so used to playing at night that I often forget to use this toy. It never seems worth it because it’s so short that when it runs out the diluted colours, shade and dim light make me sad, so I’d rather not have the daylit beauty in the first place!

(Not sad, of course, but the difference is so stark!)

They could even add night only enemies like in Zelda. Skeletons/undead rise up at night and burn away during daylight.

Another one I forgot! I can’t think of many games, if any, that use real day/night cycles, except WoW.

It really does make the game feel less dynamic.

The toy should be designed so that the effect can be maintained for as long as one wishes to keep renewing it. The fact that has a short duration and a long cooldown makes absolutely no sense, and I don’t know how that annoying design passed review.

I was more referring to you saying move to oceanic cause the sun is up all the night but then the other poster saying oceanic is always dark lol

Yeah, never got why they had a cooldown to begin with, really.

man blizzard hates toys that are fun. Make one that can do annoying things to other players 10 mins tops. Oh this toy lets me look like x type of mob, works for 10 mins ends on death and has at least an hour cooldown.

I’m still waiting for the inky black potion to become a toy…

Wow, I never realized Aussie players had that whole night/day thing going on!

@Maizou To clarify, the sun comes up around 11pm AEST and sets around 11am AEST, which sometimes fluctuates with daylight savings. So if I’m logging in at around 12pm and logging off at 10pm, I’m always playing in darkness and don’t have much chance to see daylight during my peak playing time.

At least by removing the CD, I could play with an unlimited daylight skybox within my own daylight hours. In reality, they should come up with a better fix for it and revert it to how it was before CRZ, but this looks like the best we’re gonna get for a minority community.

This is, legit, the only change that I would be really happy to see for the next expansion. I hope this gets brought to their attention somehow and they fix it.
