Am I the only one who watched Wrathion waltz in on Anduin with voices off and thought “wow these fellas are mad gay?” Gay is not offensive to me but it can be funny, after finding out about the spys getting it on I had to go watch Venture Bros. Colonel Gentleman, the flamboyant Sean Connery-sounding gay adventurer. If blizzard wrote their characters like that they could make them as gay as they wanted and I’d still be entertained, dude is all William Burroughs Meets James Bond and it’s hilarious.

Or radical idea here… Maybe we can we have more non-relationship and less wish fulfillment oriented storytelling? Maybe we can go back to stories like we enjoyed in Classic that just deal with just high fantasy and good world building?
This isn’t Desperate Housewives nor Jaina in the Morning. I’d love to see less emphasis on who is in love with who (from both sides) and a lot more focus on the table-top / RPG aspects of the game. If a pair of adventurers are out fighting X threat, and they happen to be men in love with each other (or two women), or man and woman etc.; great.
Showcase how they work as a team to protect what they care for, and how their friendship, trust and love for one another enables them to overcome odds that are now stacked and arrayed against them. That is the heroic story.
At the same time, always remember that their love and friendship should be a secondary point that enriches the core scenario, because it’s the temper that keeps them from breaking when the going gets tough.
The relationship itself shouldn’t be the primary plot and ‘hook’ unless your looking for a smut story. You know why? Because no heroic archetype has ever faced down a fantasy evil or real world evil, and said: “I will win simply because I identify this way and if I don’t win it’s because you are a transphobe!”
Any Dungeon Master will tell you. That’s absurd.

I’m glad you’re having fun. I help a friend out with their fanfiction on a regular basis and it is fun. I’m forever grateful for the RP he’s helped put into this character. Thorland went from someone I had no background on to a whole lot.
Sounds like Steve Danuser wants more. Oh, and they have an LGBTQ+ Advisory Council. Fun thing I hadn’t known until I read the article. He wrote the quests for an Enchanting storyline that included a same-sex couple.

For people that are incredibly rare IRL I sure do see quite a bit of them IRL

They aren’t legion, there’s more people with Autism or left handed. Not that I care.
Frankly just make everyone gay so we can get on with more meaningful stuff like a good story, more loot and more balance.
Reminds me of when GW2 did their whole gay couple and people were like, “Oooh hot lesbians… yay” and nobody cared, most just wanted loot and better boss fights.
Guy above says they got some advisory counsel, words like that always make me cringe. I’ve never seen a good counsel and reminds me of the Christian ones that got into everything during the 80’s.
You’d think for having a counsel and writers that the relationships would feel less forced and fanfic feeling. I’ve seen more natural sounding npc banter compared to the stuff I’ve seen put out.

There is an entire genre of LGBT movies, books, etc out there.
The irony. That sort of dismissive attitude is also what set the movement back in the 1880-1920s, and yes such a community existed even then. But the problem they faced, was that it got so ostentatious and demanding at the expense of everyone else, that it was eventually rejected by the majority of society.
That was not a good thing either.
Obviously we do want LGBTQ+ representation, but when people like Rosenivy continually troll anyone who is not that, and scream for it to the exclusion of anything else… it makes one wonder.
What will they do when most people are so fatigued by the back and forth that they say “Nah mate” to people asking for more inclusion, because they realized there was never a point where they were sated?
IMHO I’m sick of hearing what people’s sexual preferences are. I never have asked a person that question, when on a battlefield with them. Frankly speaking that would be the last thing on my mind if I was faced with a crisis, a struggle to survive, or entrenched in a location with hostile forces that wanted to kill me.
5% of the population is considered to be part of the LGBTQ community. That’s about one in every twenty people. How can you consider that rare? That means all of us work with someone who is LGBTQ, are in the grocery store at the same time as someone who is LGBTQ, are likely in the same guild as someone who is LGBTQ, or you can be like me, where my 3 best friends consider themselves to be part of the demographic.
And I would like to see it in WoW. A game I like. Having just one thing show up then never again is insulting and not how life works. We’re still around.
I don’t get how people just want a writer to write the same thing over and over. Let them work on new things. That’s how writers surprisingly get better.
Oh go on tell me all you know about me. My “nah mate” was in response to “you got this one thing now shut up”. They weren’t asking for representation.
