There are much, much more important things that need development resources. You would easily know that if you would quit looking at the entire universe through your myopic feigned rage political filter.
Just sayin’

i think itd be awesome. would be nice if all the skin/haircolor/hairstyle options were available just keep the old models and their animations.
not the people crying woe "development resources… NOT THE PRECIOUS development time for a 10+ year old game.
Classic is played through the retail version… the dark blood elf skin tone exist and if it didn’t color changes aren’t all that difficult, despite how hard you anti dark skin blood elf folk would like to lay off.
Honestly i’d love if they just did the “Checkbox for old models” path but I doubt that will happen cause these no changes people… but blood elves are coming and I just want a dark skinned blood elf.
i linked the vid that shows the changes. dang the dwarves look great with tats
There’s a difference between a lack of representation and politically driven activism in a fantasy world.
Ok. Well when it stops being about creating your own avatar and becomes about pushing political activism, it stops being bi-partisan.
When people want customization options, that’s fine.
When people come to the conclusion that customization options weren’t added because the people who made the game are filthy racists that must be protested until they drop their racist ways and fix the game…then its not fine.
It is not fine because these conclusions are patently false, the premise for attacking people is patently false and it is simply political posturing and toxic slander rather than simply wanting more customization options.
Regardless of the intention or motivation behind the request, would you object to the outcome of having more skin color options? If your answer is no, you basically have no reason to be here. If your answer is yes, then you’re going to have to come up with a better reason to object than ‘libs shouldn’t keep getting away with it.’ There’s nothing unreasonable about the requested outcome. No sense dying on this hill.
And no, development time isn’t a good answer either for those that raise that point. Actual children mod stuff like this into games over a weekend. A professional artist working with any programmer worth their salt can knock this out after lunch.
People create narratives and conclusions about why something isn’t in the game and use it as a springboard to create a politically driven protest to change the thing.
Shoving absolutes to create a fantasy driven political narrative whose conclusions don’t actually exist in reality is part of how this conversation changes from an honest request for customization changes to radical political activism.
i would love it. include haircolor/hairstyles too but keep the old bodies/faces/animations. they employed some tech originally to make the newer graphics of the engine, scale down to vanilla quality for classic. could do the same for the newer hairstyle textures
example: the …forget the name of the hairstyle but its 2 buns, high up on the head, and works for all skin colors, particularly asian and african skin colors. this char has asian skin color pallete, which gave my human access to white hair, normally not available for vanilla humans
totally can see the reasoning for this but dont see it happening
If it’s not a good enough answer for you then nothing will be
Certainly wouldn’t go so far as to say that nothing would be a good enough answer for me, but I suspect there is no good reason to object to the inclusion of additional skin colors in the game. I’m fairly open minded though, so have at if you think you’ve got one.
I gave you mine. It’s development time. But that’s not good enough for you so this conversation is at an impasse
Please keep this kind of woke SJW crap out of our game. It’s done enough harm to the entertainment industry already. Next people will want “non binary” gender options. No thanks.
Don’t give them ideas, literally everything expressed in this thread could carry over to this change also. Eventually these changes will carry over to established characters too…
See, here’s a lore reason for you.
When the Sunwell was active and rolling, Blood Elves could get amazing tans.
The Sunwell is currently under maintenance, so, like valley girls during a power outage, you cannot get that crisp, dark look.
… In my headcanon.
Yeah, you’re right, one is a lack of something, one is trying to get that lack of something fixed.
The guy you quoted didn’t say anything about Blizzard being racist or anything of the sort. You’re projecting.
The fact you think that people wanting their own racial skin tones represented = preferential racial treatment = racial supremacy is ridiculous. By your logic, wheelchair ramps = disabled supremacy movement.
Yup, this seems like the kind of thing a retail player would be concerned about policing the racial politics of a fantasy world. Not the creeping microtransactions
it doesn’t even make sense in retail let alone classic. How can a race of beings that all evolved from the same exact location vary so drastically in skin tone. It only happens in modern IRL countries due to historic events where people were either forcefully brought over / forcefully entered other land and/or immigration.
It’s even worse for the non-human races because they don’t even have the corresponding hair types / styles / colours to make it look natural.
Sorry OP, TBC wasn’t inclusive enough.
just play a human.
