I can’t wait for Blood Elf Patrol it will be glorious.
Whats a nightborne? Sry I don’t speak retail kek
His memory isn’t what it used to be.
Yeah and I don’t need special treatment by making something cater directly to my feelings to make me feel immersed.
Don’t confuse humans with fantasy races like orcs and night elves and tauren…or races like Clingons from Star Trek or even the generic grey aliens…
Because when it comes to humans, WoW covered the spectrum just fine when it came to the human race.
This is what happens when contrarians in the 21st century use abstract thinking to politically drive protest. You end up with people not actually wanting the thing they are pushing for, but instead enjoy the power from making people do the thing they want.
Directly as a single issue, no it doesn’t.
When the core concepts driving the push for change is not representation, but instead proving to the world that blizzard is full of racists that never even though to consider making all races have black skin tones because they are inherently racist…its a toxic slanderfest that people really really are sick of seeing.
You end up with a situation where when the activism yields results, the result isn’t “Yay we got customization results”, the result is “Yay we proved that blizzard were racist and we enacted change from it, now lets go fix all the other things that these racists enacted”.
TLDR - We are really looking at the worst case scenario to a society when slander in a culture is just straight up normalized and acceptable.
Good for you. I’m glad. I truly am.
Other people might though, and since it doesn’t impact us negatively, there’s no good reason to argue against it.
Black elves in a universe they never existed for 20 some years seems a bit drastic. They aren’t meant to represent humanity, they are elves.
Wanting better representation isn’t slandering a culture.
Maybe they should reduce representation to match the percent of a countries population. True equality.
Avatars, no matter their form, directly represent the person playing them. That is their purpose.
Allowing the player to choose avatars they feel better represent them to the rest of the world is pretty much an unmitigated good.
If avatars represent the player, then glinda’s is perfect because of the purple hair and annoying voice.
I don’t think so, generally my immersion comes from escaping my humanity and myself. It’s nice to be a badass orc or dwarf roaming the lands. Creating a character with it’s own identity.
He just got… Obliterated
Saying “We lack representation” isn’t a request for customization options, it is assuming that Blizzard is racist because they are discriminating against black skin and must change their racist ways to make the game more inclusive.
It is not only wrong on its face, its slanderous and frustrating. There are legitimate, non-racial reasons that non-humans don’t have the full spectrum of skin color. These fantasy races purple and blue skin and freaking fur. That’s why it sounds like outlandish activism than a simple reasonable request.
It’s pink.
I get it, you’re colorblind.
Oh, wait…
If the shoes fits…
Isn’t it fun that we all have our own opinions but we know that what color pixels other people choose to represent themselves has absolutely no effect on our lives, real or imagined?
Of course they do. Clearly, I’m a furry since I chose a tauren to represent me.
This is a kink shame free zone.
You do you, buddy.
The irony of you saying this on a dwarf when you’re…
