Can we get account wide ignore?

Here to offer my daily support

Adding account wide ignores will make it easy to ignore someone who is going around trolling and harassing people. Currently, it takes more effort to try and block them, especially if they’re hidden, than it is to switch characters and continue to bother people.

With account wide ignore, people can no longer just switch characters and continue to follow people around starting drama. I also request that profiles be hidden to those you have ignored so they can’t see your posting history. They shouldn’t be allowed to reply to us, either.

Battle tags would also be a good feature to add in order to stop people from hopping characters and pretending to be different people in order to further their argument, troll, and harass others.

There’s a common misconception that having your btag public is somehow exposing personal information which, unless your btag is your real name or number, is false. I’ve posted my btag many times and no one knows anything about me.

Currently, you can add someone’s character in game without their knowledge. You can know what they’re doing and you can message them without permission. You have to approve someone adding your btag. If you don’t want someone to add you, you just decline the request.

There is no personal information you can gain from your btag unless YOU have posted that information somewhere along with your btag.

Vongola#1794 approves this message.

Feel free to add me if you’d like  Or feel free to try and tell me what information you can garner from this (spoiler: none).

Yes, but if you have real life friends in WoW that have you on BTAG that’s an entirely different matter.

You know that for a fact?

Wild how one of the mods would tell you this

I believe (Mirasol had the details) that there were a couple of instances from the Diablo forums where someone made a Btag that had the same name as another regular poster but different numbers, and they were going around impersonating them. They were sussed out because like here you can hover over an avatar for more details like the server someone’s on, but it caused some havok.

You see it happen from time to time here, I can count like, three separate incidents from the last handful of months where someone rolled up a character with the same name on a different server (or a slightly different name on the same server) as one of the forum regulars and went around trashing them and trying to get people to lash out at them.

If the numbers for a displayed Btag were completely hidden, even in a hover-over or in the Activity details, and your Btag was in theory Doness#1558, someone could create a Bnet tag that was Doness#13472, but it would only show as “Doness” on the forum, the same as yours. They could go around saying they were you and put outrageous words in your mouth, and there would be no proof that you could show that it wasn’t really you.

People might say that’s farfetched, but considering I’ve seen it happen multiple times just since the beginning of the year it’s not that farfetched.

Wait, is that allowed? To make the same btag name as someone else but you just get different numbers? D: Does it not say that name is taken??

The part before the numbers in a Btag isn’t unique, no.

That’s crazy, I didn’t know that

why do u think the other ones got deleted? it all circled to the same thing and it was the same drama on each 1.
its smart to consolidate the drama unless u want this canned too lmao

I’d be willing to bet the fact OP refused to actually engage anyone, constantly misrepresented what people were saying, said its “disagreement” to ignore someone to tells you to game over yourself, quite literally just spammed the same messaged constantly, and even alt hopped to like their own messages and agreed with themselves

But that’s just my opinion

Peanut butter and bacon on toast.
White bread, peanut butter, sliced bananas sprinkled with cinnamon.
Melt peanut butter in a cup and stir in rice crispies.
Graham crackers, peanut butter, chocolate chips and marshmallow heated in the oven.

The ways in which you are so wrong are astounding.

Pretty sure the other one (at least the one I’m thinking of) was canned because it was based on an OP that was just trying to get a rise out of people.

This right here is what I think caused the other thread to be closed.

That’s exactly what happened

This is the way

Yes, you can make the same BTag as someone else. How ever, you can not use your BattleTag in attempt to impersonate as someone else.

so are you saying that everyone can have the same btags then?

Thank you blizzard for enabling my alt addiction

I don’t even have 20 total yet that’s so crazy to me and no this isn’t me hating on people that do have 60 or more and will benefit from 65 but it’s gonna take me a long time to get there if I ever do, lol.

You can make your Battletag whatever you like. Everybody here could choose to make their Battletag ‘Randomgamer’, but the random number that is appended to each one is what makes them each a unique tag. I would be the only Randomgamer#3456, you would be the only Randomgamer#8395.

Speaking to the ‘controversy’ of displaying the Btag, with our without the numbers, and the notion that the other firms don’t display them… the battletag is displayed, in its entirety, on mouseover. So whether it is displayed natively or only on mouseover is moot.
