There seriously needs to be something done in this game. Its straight up impossible for players to prevent from being harassed here on the forums.
Difference today though is that the servers are also structured around layering and shards. Whether people try and hunt you down in game, the chances of actually finding you are greatly decreased. Take for example, lets say I was on the same server as you, in the same zone. Chances of me running into you in the open world are low, because you could be in a different shard to me.
I do think there needs to be an end to the ignore cap in game though, since there is far more people in the game than there are on the forums.

Everytime when I hear someone say “its perfect and it doesn’t need any change”, I swap to an alt that i haven’t posted on and make a post here to prove that you need to like ignore 3 of my characters to not talk with me (and even then, I can create an alt and you will never truly ignore me).

Heated discussions =/= Harassment. If they drag it into the game or outside the game, you might have something.

It only turns into harassment on the forums when you start stalking and continuously trolling/attacking someone nonstop here.

Sounds like some of the people in this thread that have bypassed other peoples ignores by jumping from alt to alt which leads me back to the topic of this thread which is account wide ignoring because that would solve that problem, just saying.

i just wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts on account wide ignore with you.
my main problem with account wide ignore is that it can be used to find people’s alts on the forum.
So, for example, say you post on this warlock but you also post on another character as well, then account wide ignore would allow people to find all your other alts that post on the forums.
here is how i explained it earlier
basically the person ignores your warlock, searches the forum for “hidden messages” and clicks the messages to view them, this shows them your alts.
then if they find your alts, they can do stuff like this, which is why i am against account-wide ignore on the forums.
the main reason that the people who are in favor of account-wide ignore only want it so that they can hold people accountable for what they say on their alts. If i had to take a guess, i think that someone posted an opinion that disagreed with these people, so they want to make sure there will be “accountability” for posting that message that disagrees with them.
these people think that if there is more than one person who disagrees with them, then it must be one person posting on many alts. Just as OP stated right here:

All this. This is the reason why account wide ignores are needed. Sick of placing people on ignore to bypass the ignore with a new alt to repeat the entire process.

I’m going to tell you a story, and people in this thread can back this story up.
Long time ago, I used to be quite toxic here on the forums, over the topic in regards to High Elves. Infact, I was also spiteful. Yes, a few times, I purposely bypassed an ignore when people placed me on ignore to reply back. In the end, I got so toxic, one of the people who had me on ignore for a reason, caught me dropping his real personal information on the forums. Although that was by accident, I still accept full accountability for my own actions not just what happened on that day, but my entire time being here on the forums.
Moral of the story, only you and you alone can hold yourself accountable for your own actions. Not me, not anyone else. Just like I am accountable and responsible for my own actions here in the forums. If you can’t take any responsibility for what you do, then you shouldn’t be here in the first place.

i see that you responded to my post, so i wanted to offer a kind response to it. I do enjoy this discourse we had between eachother, i believe it helped both of us to view the world in a better way

Anyways, daily support for account wide ignores. Lets put a stop to people bypassing ignores.

Hopefully if we get an account wide block that will also include removing that particular issue, and hopefully its a two way block so they wont be able to see you, your alts or any hidden responses anyway.

Technically yes. But as you see, they dont. Likely lacking manpower. And Im not sure Blizzard themselves bothers with this forum much.
You see the ongoing ad hominems, insults, going on for hundreds of posts over the weekend, Im sure.
They just have to wait until a friday night when everyone has gone home for the weekend, then have the free for all that this thread, yet again, turned out to be with all the name calling.
This is all the more reason for a better block. One where we dont see the asinine ‘hidden reply’ bait for every post of someone we’ve blocked.
A solid two way block so you dont see them, they dont see you.
This thread is exactly the reason why we need one. The ongoing belligerence where they are asked over and over to stop calling names, but escalate instead.
If we had a good facebook block, either side blocks and neither side can see the other…and if you log out, you just dont see the forums at all…except maybe CS forums.
It might be different if we could all be relied on to NOT call names, but clearly that isnt going to happen given the MANY threads on this topic that have been locked an 404ed already.
But it is what it is and we need to have tools to deal with what exists, not what we want to exist.
