Can we get account wide ignore?

I didn’t know that but I really don’t track anyone’s alts so, lol and thanks for the heads up.

Only if they use that character on the forums… It’s no different than finding anyone’s current characters with the armory so long as they use them on the forums.

I mean, I don’t know either. But when you have like 3 or 4 alts all circle jerking each other, makes you wonder.

To be honest Blizzard should throw in the accusation of being someone you’re not or insinuating someone is someone else without any actual evidence right into the trolling category. Then again they already don’t enforce basically any of their rules…

but many people use lots of characters to talk on the forums…

people switch to their hunter to discuss issues with hunter class balance on the hunter forums.

people switch to their transmog character to have a transmog discussion

people switch to their night elf character to talk in the night elf threads

and etc., and etc.

what you are saying is that “ok, so you can only find people’s alts with account wide ignore if the people post on their alts… so we will just forbid everyone from using an alt to post on the forums.”

i don’t think that’s a very good idea, do you?

Again. Only if that person uses other characters on the forums would person A be able to do any of this.

Also blizzard can see your forum logs… They know who and when you’ve ignored folk.

At what point did I say that?

This doesn’t address the fact you can still do this same thing now.

Right now.

So… I don’t get it? This rhetorical issue is an outlier issue. It’s of no value.

It’s like getting upset at apples because water kills people sometimes.

You cannot, because it’s not account wide for the forums? Even in game it’s only server-wide and, given you can’t see the posts of people you ignore in game you have no way to even verify any of it because you won’t see them talking.

ok so you are saying, someone could click on someone’s profile and look at their achievements, then match achievements with other players to find alts.

but, that actually is impossible if someone doesn’t want their alts to be found because they can click “show only character achievements.”

so, no, it is not already possible…

and if account-ignore was implemented, there would be no way to stop it.

I could go looking though for anyone and match up their toons. It’ll take time, just as hunting for hidden posts will but I can do so. And assuming it’s the person’s main or at least in their guild I could do all the things Doobly is concerned about.

Doobly though is on a burner account. Probably only one toon on it which would also be possible with the other system.

I just match pets…

More accurate and people tend to give names to their pets. It’s actually really easy.

I’m kinda sad you think matching achievements is even a thing people really use anymore.

plus if it’s not a burner with one pet, you’ve got pet team composition as a shortcut

Good luck doing that.

Not at all, given the amount of people generally online at the same time and you don’t have a full list of anyone who talked like the forums are.

Are they in a guild, specifically? Either way, it’s nice that you at least admit that the reason you want such a thing for the forums is to more easily know peoples alts.

That’s the ticket.

Of course there are also websites for matching pvp up and such…

But that’s still just as doable now as it would be with account wide ignore.

Account wide ignore stops sockpuppettimg and bypassing ignores to harass on the forums. Which is a step up from what we slog through now.

I mean, it’s a valid point to raise to someone who is proposing that something even more of a snipe hunt as the logical result of defragging our forum ids.

I do like how all these people are much more concerned about punishing people who notice people alt hopping and sock puppeting than they are about the disruption those actions bring to the forums.

Already do?

I mean I don’t go out of my way but I notice posting habits and take note from time to time. It’s nice knowing trolls alts across the forums at times.

Though I don’t mess with anyone. Just keep it to know who I’m dealing with.

Which also would be easier with account wide ignore or btags.

I imagine it would take roughly the same time. Maybe a tad faster cause you wouldn’t have to type or copy paste the name in another widow?

Less I want to know the alts as I want to not have to know.

Right now I keep lists cause people go around ignore blocks. I’d rather just ignore a person and not have to worry about them switching toons to harass me.

It actually does neither, much like the in game version. It’s just another tool to help curb it and make it less effective.

Personally, from what I can see in this thread the people that have been so nasty are those that are proposing account-wide everything for the forums and are against making it possible for people to not have their alts shown in the process of said account-wide ignore/posting. Literally all people want is to not have their alts known and trackable.

It wouldn’t, hence peoples use for third party websites and stuff like coghanks. Even in this thread people don’t bother to check armory and will just throw out accusations of people being the same ones. I was even labeled as a troll earlier.
