It would certainly shut down trolls who hide behind alts, which is a good thing.

but it would allow anyone to maliciously use the account wide ignore feature to track anyone’s alts… and that is not a good thing.
Hate to say it but you sound really paranoid for no reason and so I won’t interact with you past this since I feel like it will be pointless and a waste of my time.

One system fixes an issue. The current system has these same hangups. You have to go through exhaustive work to hide yourself right now. Like you using a burner account to hide right now.
By the same design I can scan this entire forum for you and find any alts on that account. Any time you log onto that character I could then whisper you. Anytime you log onto any of those other toons who may exist on that account I could whisper you.
I could go after your guilds or talk about you on trade chat.
You may not use that character but using this exact system that you’re saying works better than ours the exact same issue comes up. Because that isn’t a forum problem inherently. Thats crossing platforms and makes a far worse case of harassment. Its a step up.
But with an account wide ignore on the forums you can’t just switch to an alt to bypass an ignore here. It fixes the main issue we see with sockpuppeting and bypassing ignores to continue to harass people. Its an actual level of protection where currently we’re wide open.
You complain that the system works better now but it doesn’t work, at the very least, any better than what we’d have after and at best account wide ignores would work better overall.
You’ve not proven anything of value.

because my step by step description is completely accurate.

How about you show actual proof of something like that happening without your so called step by step because that’s just you saying it, it doesn’t make it factual or prove anything because it’s not like a news story saying that people got harassed or stalked due to account wide ignoring because they don’t, it just allows others to not have to put up with them anymore after ignoring them.

Since it’s not an actual reliable source no, sorry but it’s just you and someone else saying something in my book and that doesn’t make it factual, actually it makes me less likely to believe it because I feel you are just saying it because it’s something you don’t want.

see, this user here asks to see someone’s main… this user would like to know the poster’s main.
so they could use account wide ignore to find the main and then harrass them in-game, as the first poster in my message confirmed has happened.

Actually thinking about it since with the new system to do what you’ve proposed requires you to have only one person ever in your ignore list, if Person A does continue the harassment into the game it would make it extremely obvious that they’re doing it for that.
It would actually help to prove the harassment…

once the person used the account-wide ignore to find the alts, they could just remove that person from ignore.
