Can we get a queue counter for LFG/LFR?

The “estimated wait time” is always wrong on the dungeon queues.

Can we have a counter that tells us our exact place in queue? That way I can get a better idea of how long it will take and how fast it is progressing?

I think Final Fantasy XIV has this.

I dont think this would give you the information you want it to.

Queues are typically slow because healers/tanks are being waited for. If a queue said “you are in the 4th group to form” that wont exactly tell you how long. Or give any estimate. A few tanks (for example) could queue up in a row. Or take a while.

FFXIV has different options that would cause less skewing than WoW. E.G: you need to opt into partially completed duty roulettes, WoW just puts you into any. If you get asked to change expansions during Chromie timewalking you instantly get put at the front. WoW does queue line pausing FFXIV does not.

Furthermore party compositions will skew this further (dps + healer would likely push out 1 DPS to fill a group)

For this reason I don’t think a queue counter would be anymore accurate than the inaccurate time counter.

I think it also rearranges the queue constantly based on server and battle group too. Which causes quite a bit of fluctuation and inconsistencies.

Not sure if it does this, but according to tests from a while ago, it tries to spread out the high geared players into as many groups as possible so that they carry as many groups as they can.

I wish they would release a little bit of how it works to make us nerds feel better lol.

There is so much speculation and it’s such an annoying/tedious thing to test.
I do know dungeon lfg gives a higher server priority. I don’t know how many times I’ve accidentally queued into groups with guildies.

something that shows which specs are in queue and how many of them would be nice

example…

In Queue:
Tanks: 3
Healers: 12
DPS: 4,324

Average wait time for your chosen spec DPS: 2 hours 23 min…

something like this would be nice to have.

Can add more granularity to the list thru an API that addons can access so they can add pages upon pages of data if they want.

I highly doubt it, since that depends on who queues up. If a tank and 3 dps queue, and the game has 60 healers and 0 tanks currently in queue, your position isn’t gonna matter much.

There’s also the problem that people can queue for multiple instances at once.

If I queue for 4 different things… which one am I counted in? All of them? Then they’re all wrong.

This is the actual problem that nobody wants to deal with, btw.

Limit accounts to queueing once per day as DPS. Resets if you finish content as a tank or healer.

Problem solved.

I’ve never played tank or healer, you sure you want me queueing as those roles when all I want is a candy box for my DPS toon?

I mean I’d do it, but psure everyones gonna get cranky with me.

Would be lots more, “I got a tank/heal in my last queue that was so bad I had log off and cry” posts on here for sure.

Not really, but the reason DPS queues are so clogged is because of peoples’ alts.

Everybody just defaults to DPS spec on their alts, because they really don’t know how to play most of their alts, and it’s easiest to hide as DPS.

So you have people queueing time after time on their alts, taking spots away from people just trying to get a single run in on their only character.

Account-wide cap on queueing as DPS is the only solution.

LOL - you realize some people have a life and only play 1 character right? And last time I checked, not all classes have an OPTION to tank or heal (Hunters, Mages, Rogues)

I gotta agree here.

I only have time for 1 toon really.

This spriest and my undergeared druid for gathering rocks and flowers so I’m not broke.

No way would I be able to get 8 delves for both every week and still farm enough stuffs to make any gold.

That’s precisely whom I’m trying to help. By getting the people who spend all day playing 50 alts (because they’re “casual” ) out of the way.

Also very false

I have 65 characters - at least 1 for every spec in the game and of those I heal on like 20 of them, tank on around 12-15, and then yeah some are obviously DPS

But DPS queues are awful which is why DPS tend to be my least played characters

?

You can’t queue for delves.

correct

now you understand why I don’t do much group content at all.

I don’t, actually. I don’t even see what they have to do with each other.

I’m confused. So you want someone with 1 character that can only DPS to only be allowed to login and do 1 queue per day then not be able to play. Your logic here is flawed
