This is why it needs to be discussed, and thank you for the civil conversation. Now I understand there are good things that can come from the combat log. So why could they not just remove the stealth notifications and the stealth noise possibly. I do not really want the noise to be removed because that is a good alert for the person being stalked. But from the combat log I would think would be ok. I do not think that would break all the other add ons, or most certainly most of them.
well I will be satisfied with a proper answer. I may disagree with it, but to have a concrete number to start would be awesome.
so if they minimized the distance of the stealth “sound” it could possibly be a solution
That would be a straight up gameplay change, might as well give paladins a taunt and balance hybrids then
It isn’t that much, or i’d be dead a lot.
Anyways, you aren’t going to get any where trying to ban a thing that can be replaced by an uncountable number of other things.
What you could need to ask is if Blizzard could review certain things
to be flagged as to not appear in combat logs, though they have left them in for 15 years so i cant predict the outcome, but that is the only way you would Un-Spy things.
And if you get them to listen, you might please mention that the spam of mr tauren cooks a fish etc is not really needed either, what he cooks is his business, no meat eating shame from me.
I do not think it would be a major thing. You really should not hear a person go into stealth anyway. What is the sound? Like dracula pulling his cape across his face? what?
Yes, the combat log should be for combat. I agree fishing, cooking and such really has no place there.
there’s a separate log for that, those don’t appear in the combat log
you think that, but Blizzard doesn’t want to give all the advantage to the rogue
A rogue gets the jump on you and most of the time you’re dead, the sound is there to give you a heads up, it’s called balance
All things have a sound, probably an equal and fairness thing i guess?
I shadowmeld, it makes a sound you can hear, i got into prowl, same thing, rogue stealths, same again, guy sitting on a rock make bundles of silk, same thing
the add on is not balance, its not part of the game, its an ADD ON.
What to turn off to take those out of my combat log window?
we’re talking about the noise, try and keep up
i’m not on right now to check honestly, sorry
Yes, I understand, and I stated why I think it should be there, but maybe not a huge range if it is directly in concurrence with the combat log. To remove it from the combat log and keep the sound would be optimal, but someone would make another add on just for sound. So the sound needs to have less of a range to be heard, IMO. Again, thank you for discussing this. I feel good talking to you
No worries, i will look after work later.
I mean no one ever cooks in a dungeon, but it just looks dumb to see that stuff there.
OMG betty joe cooked a fish, KILL HER!!
i forget about it sometimes and end up seeing “joe created mythril bar” 400 times in my log
I do not think it is in the API to track sound events, so i dont think that would happen
The only reason I said that is because someone in another thread mentioned that the sound is tied to the combat log. I am not positive thats why I did not state it for sure. It is something to find out I guess.
No, Spy plays a sound when it detects the stealth line in the log
the sound it plays is the same as the game stealth sound.
The game does not run sounds based on combat log though.
More like [EVENT STEALTH]
[audio sub event] splay X.wav
[combat_log sub event] %player has stealthed
If that makes sense?
