Seriously it’s obnoxiously slow now. It takes almost two minutes to load all the pages for Netherweave Cloth so that I can post mine at a good price.
Also last I checked, Blizzard didn’t actually implement the sort by price fix they were going to put in, so even putting things at a good price won’t matter because people that have their stuff up for 1C bid will just bid on everyone else’s 1C stuff to push them out of the first few pages.
Auctionator shows me them all without looking at pages…
I strongly suggest using an addon. I like Auctionator.
I doubt that “we” (Blizzard) will overhaul the TBC auction house.
I AM using Auctionator. When I go to post Netherwave, I get “scanning page 1 of 36” etc.
I’m guessing you haven’t scanned the auction house for any of the new TBC mats. Using Auctionator is incredibly slow. And while you aren’t “looking” at each page, the tool still has to look at each page, which causes it to take a few minutes to scan through 50 pages of netherweave. Then once the scan is done, trying to purchase anything is difficult as some of the scanned stuff is already purchased.
The alternative is using the default view and just buying whatever’s on the first page knowing it could be extremely overpriced.
Default view needs to sort by per item buyout price, which it does not do.
…among other things, this would help stop people from posting hundreds of singles just so they are on the top of the default scanned list.
Most of the auction addons have a help feature for suggesting pricing when you are creating an auction. It scans the AH to find prices and store them in iits database. I remember Auctioneer had a feature at one point where you could control the scan. I set mine to manual and would just run scans occasionally. Check and see if the settings on your add on has controls for that.
It can’t tell you what the prices are until after it’s scanned the 50 pages of single item auctions. And of course, by the time the scan is done, the price suggestion may no longer be valid.
The only solution for the AH, imo, is to use the Retail Interface for AH’s because when retail had this exact same issue the new AH model fixed it.
I am 100% for this in the group of “some changes”. Having a “working auction house” would be no more game breaking than being able to jump through the portal at expansion launch and start playing immediately even though that was very different from the original BC launch.
the auction house on the server i play on is almost unusably slow
I opened a thread for this last week, and it’s worse now. AH is unusable.
addons are what are grinding
it to a halt on the first place
Bump. They have to do something about this. On Mankrik it’s literally unusable. Bought an item on the AH and it’s been over 5 minutes so far without completing, and it won’t let me search again until it’s done.
Yeah, the AH is slowing down more and more and more. It’s taking nearly 30 seconds to post ONE auction. What is going on?
I have noticed this since pre patch. It starts out fine at the beginning of the week and by the end of the week it gets really slow. Keep an eye out on it Tuesday after reset. It will be fast again and then will gradually slow down.
The solution I’d like to see is an ignore function that blocks specific sellers on the AH, so I can block everyone who posts pages of single stacks or the obvious scams/gold selling purchases.
The Auction house is still incredibly slow without addons. But without addons its almost impossible to find decent buyout prices. So basically an AH addon is needed to get past all the low bid/high buyout auctions. I REALLY hope Blizzard does something about this. It makes the game a lot more time consuming and frustrating when it takes 10 minutes to post 5 auctions.
Its super slow its sad. Feels like the AH is ran with AOL dial up.
really wish they would just toss the retail version of it up. It at least doesn’t bog everything down with all of these single options. Its a change, but at least it makes things useable.
