yes we can. my decision to play a mechagnome DH doesn’t make anybody else’s life or game experience worse.
The more lore breaking one, is the lightforged warlocks. Draenei warlocks are fine, there are always a few dark individuals that will seek the dark powers, even in their people. But the lightforged? come on now, that is just bad writing.
What is next, gnomes using aspect powers and becoming evokers?
To be honest it doesn’t even have to break lore, we can just add to it.
How long all the different races of each faction have been coexisting with one another at this point in the lore? 30+ years?
You wanna tell me that all this time not a single Orc, Blood Elf, Vulpera or Nightborne didn’t get interested in druidism after watching for example Hamuul and the Cenarion Circle working to help save the world? It would be very easy to justify that they simply wanted to be a part of it and that’s how members of these races became druids.
This applies to every single race and class, we’ve all been together for so long that at this point it makes less sense to keep the restrictions than to remove it.
like i said that argument gets thrown out when you have both versions of draenei warlocks and man’ari as playable. its easier if he comes out and says there lazy rather than making stuff up.
this is all the lore thats needed
Maybe so but they at least they took the time to justify those races being playable on Warlock, where they clearly don’t want to do the same for Paladins, Druids and Shamans so yeah.
The lightforged is pushing it, a lot but hear me out.
points to her shameful lightforged warlock
I thought that lightforged were going to get the red skin tone. It fits that both sets of Draenei would give Eredar that want to change a chance in their group. Forgiveness and other blah, blah, blah and that would include warlocks too. Blizzard did not include the red skin tone therefore lore for lightforged. So now lightforged warlocks are shameful abominations that super push lore to almost breaking.
I could make the weak excuse of lightforged warlocks trying to fight fire with fire. Even I don’t want to try and defend that weak stance. Just give them the red skin!!!
I feel this ‘reaoning’ could be used how other Race/Class combos exsist now in WOW. Its basicly in game that a Bronze dragon did something similar already which became the reasoning for WOD.
The WoW PC wasn’t supposed to be a Chosen One. Quite the opposite, we were meant to be random no-name rag-tag mercenary-adventurers. That’s why we don’t get to be the super special one-of-a-kind Nelf/Undead Paladin.
Racial restrictions need to be more severe, not less. Draenei/Lightforged Warlocks and DKs? Preposterous.
More race restrictions.
They should start rolling them back and force race change the offenders.
Technically our player characters don’t actually exist in the world beyond being random adventurers. Example: We kicked Arthas’ behind, but Tirion and the Argent Crusade took the credit for it.
So that being said, if we’re faceless adventurers, then race / class combos don’t matter because we don’t exist. Wanna be an Undead Paladin; go for it.
Want to be a Dwarf Druid; do your thing. The point being is that since we don’t exist, our combos don’t matter from a lore perspective, so making everyone able to be whatever should be a choice going forward.
Sure, I can Druids taking the longest to implement, but they could have placeholder models of existing forms until each races’ forms can be completed.
There are players who complain that it breaks the lore; but Blizzard already does that, so why should it matter since they retcon their own lore?
I love blood elves and I love druids, but it just doesn’t work for me.
“supposed to be” 20 years ago doesn’t matter, as we’ve been established as champions for more of world of warcraft than we haven’t. We’ve been called champion since Wrath of the Lich king when we struck down the Lich King.
We are not random no name adventurers. We are Arch Druids, and High Lords and Grandmasters.
It does.
Demon hunters wouldn’t be as cool then.
It would just be seen as another monk.
Because there is bad writing, clearly, we need more of it.
Oh my goodness, you make so much sense. I’m a lore nerd and some of the inconsistencies in this game when it comes to lore is aggravating.
You feel my pain and it helps knowing that there are others out there like me.
I said it before, i say again, they can make everything and treat then as non canon just fine
Let taurens and gnomes play as DH, and pretend they dont exist in the overall lore, they exist only for the player and in his own tory, since everyone is the azeroth hero who saves the world
Its not like everyone get represented in quests/the story anyway
No thanks. I respect history and logic too much.
I’m pretty sure “They’ve lived next door to each other in the same city for thirty years” is a pretty immersive and believable experience to explain as to why a Night Elf decided to use their Priestess abilities in combat wearing armour and became a Paladin, after watching Humans, Dwarves, Draenei, OTHER ELVES, and what-have-you do the exact same thing. Or when the non-Shaman races in the Horde start doing Shamanism after living with three races that are Shaman-centric for like 20 years in universe.
It wasn’t lore breaking when we went from Warcraft 3 to World of Warcraft and suddenly Dwarves could be Paladins instead of it exclusively being Humans. They didn’t even give you any more reason than a one-off line in the character selection screen that said “Yeah they started doing it too lol”.
But I forget it’s okay when old Blizzard does it.
If we’re going to restrict classes based on arbitrary nonsense, I want to restrict professions based on race, too. Sorry, Orc boy but you can’t use Engineering. That’s for Goblins only.
its literally being held back by the art needing to be made, you know people are gonna throw a fit if worgen paladins dont get a unique horse mount
Once Blizzard allowed NE to be mages all lore for race/class went out the window. I didn’t like it at first but they’re not back tracking on it so I say open the flood gates and every race = every class.
