I mean, I highly doubt the Void Elves (consisting mainly of former Blood elves) would suddenly care about building on the Amani sacred territory. But for the sake of the conversation even if they did, why would trolls want a quarter in an alliance void city?

they look orcish. smaller and normal sized human like ears with a pointy tip. but i think itll be interesting to see how they look. on a gnome, they’d look like fae

Maybe the same reason that many non Native Americans support the Landback movement? Empathy? A desire to attempt to right at least some of the old wrongs?

But yes, Troll players have not received much love lately. It would be nice to see some of them get a new home area. ( Since the faction divide is easing, they could easily stay Horde)

And who said all this new building could not be in Telogrus rift? It is just a portal away.

They have their own city floating in the void. That could have been devloped if people actually asked for that instead of trying to repaint velfs pink.

I’ve been asking for exactly that for years… Thats a big want by the community at large. Many of us find it really annoying that Blizzard established us with only a couple tents and no real storyline or lore to build our toons off of.

Telogrus Rift has FIVE islands and we only have access to two. (Three on the ptr) Its ridiculous. I do like the ptr updates but even those seem laughably small. With luck its just the beginning showing us build up over time.

Yeah but it can’t just come out of the blue, the Void elves have no relations or contact with the trolls. That just seems really ham-fisted.

They did! Its more tents and some portals and some shifting of things. Its really neat!

No buildings and very little, but it is still on PTR and clearly a WIP. So who knows, could be a lot more interesting.

Still been asking and hoping for a far greater amount of build up. Though I’m cool if they say they’ll do it over time, like they have for UC or have claimed they’re doing for Bel’ameth.

Again, them “no longer being High elves” was merely in a semantic sense since nothing really changed besides their color scheme. The name change wasn’t a departure from who they were, it was to honor who they are. They still upheld the same traditions, continued on the same beliefs, nothing really changed moving forward besides their name.

I don’t see this reflected in the game though. The only real departure was the alliance with the Nightborne and the Blood Knight extra quest story-wise in the recent years.

Old values? Do mean aesthetically? I can get behind wanting blue/gold themed armor, but we don’t need to faction change to achieve that. It seems like the desire to play High elves on the Alliance comes from wanting to play on a human, blue/gold side and less about anything having to do with High elves as a culture.

This is just your experience, mine is different. AD-EU is filled with Quel’dorei left and right, including a few Sin’dorei in Stormwind. The recent Void Elf changes also took a hit on popularity with dwindling Blood Elf-players or faction changes. If anything, these people want to experience a better environment outside of Silvermoon, Orgrimmar and the Crosspaths.

I think this is subjective, as I don’t see humancentric Alliance High elves as the “original High elves with all their attached values” because they’re anything but. Alliance High elves are elves gutted of their original themes, and turned into humans with pointy ears. In fact many Alliance High elves purposely avoided magic and other High elven aspects to disassociate themselves and avoid scrutiny from other Alliance races. Blood elves embrace magic as they always have, live in the High elven capital, their racial armors while leveling are designed and themed around traditional high elven clothing. The only difference is that things are red, and not blue.

This term “humancentric” is just your own point of view. Blood Elves are already “humancentric” in their appearance to begin with, which is why they are popular. And they want them to be blue with their angel-like features what usually European children have (blonde hair until they grow older, blue eyes).

What I foresee happening is that they divide the remaining High elves into two camps, those willing to delve into the void joining the Void elves, officiating the inclusion of High elves in the Void elf ranks, and those oriented in the light joining the Blood elves in defending the Sunwell and utilizing the light.

The most realistic situation is that both Blood and Void Elves will get mixed into a new neutral player race.

Helfers continuously mocked Blood elves for being “fel-tainted” and how awful and corrupted they were and how they would never want to play them. And what did they get? They got Void elves, former blood elves corrupted with a form of corruptive magic that makes the Fel look like a sunburn. Now every helfer has to live with the fact that their “elf” will always be a void elf, and Blood elf players can play the pure, light-wielding High elf they always wished they could have.

Void and Fel are the “gimmicks” but not the base race, which is available to both sides now. I do have styled my both Blood Elves fel-based with green eyes, with the one Paladin being with golden eyes. As far as I remember, the TBC cover also expresses this with green eyes. I wouldn’t want to play them in any other way, because this would make them to Alliance High Elves on the wrong faction, as stupid as it sounds.

It’s nice that they can get their alternative, but it makes me smile knowing all the purist have to cringe inside when their Holy Priest starts to pulse like a void glowstick, or when they enter a church and the NPCs basically ask them to leave lol

This is just childish resentment in my eyes. Both US forum groups are inconsequential in the grand scheme and how the player base sees the actual situation. Far, far more people over the years agreed with the Void Elf-situation being a mistake rather, if the Blood Elves should not lose their assets. That’s why merging both player races will benefit everyone in the long run. Nobody sane would care for the specific problems these groups have.

Well according to Vareesa High elves seldom give birth in the first place, so even if Alliance High elves were only procreating with humans we wouldn’t be seeing them very often, and since half-elves pretty much look identical to normal elves we wouldn’t really know who was a half-elf unless it was pertinent to the story. Plus, we haven’t really had any stories focusing on High elves so there hasn’t really been an opportunity to explore that yet.

They look identical in game, due to them not wanting to make a new model for a few npc’s we encounter.

This was the same issue that we ran into with rexxar before BFA, he used the orc model previously.

this is true, though technically id prefer alliance high elves/half elves with different hairstyles, idling and casting animations. problem is the devs have limited bone animations, thusly why nearly anything new is a copy/paste

They can adjust them… They did with rexxar… a single npc.

They did with vulpera, mechagnones, nightborne.

Besides a true half-elf would not just be humans with pointy ears, nor blood elves with rounded ears. Genetics don’t work that way, unless your creatively bank-rupt.
