real world money transaction sellers flooding group finders?
Open a group finder on Frostmourne and you see over half are “WTS” and at least 7-10 “Get it before shadowlands” adverts that tells you to go to their USD transaction websites like “pveshop pro” etc.
The so called suspensions do nothing to deter these blatant offenders.
The best thing you can do is continue to right-click and report these crooks.
And if you really want them to stop, be sure to encourage friends/guildies/others to stop giving these people their money.
Suspensions are just one part of how these can be handled. I imagine that in most cases, these aren’t even actual players, but hacked accounts that are being used to peddle the sellers illicit wares to unsuspecting players who get scammed out of real money.
Accounts are not just suspended, but often banned/closed. Even when they are though, these people just grab another stolen account and get right back at it
Apparently they use relog bots of some sort, as they are up almost immediately after I mass report them. At the worst times, there are over ten of the same advert up (pveshop).
Blizzard have dealt harsher bans to lesser violations. Why so lax now?
I’m not too sure where you’re getting your info from, but they are not “lax” on these sorts of things. Again, it really is a lot more complicated than just banning them.
Not sure what a “relog bot” is, but they definitely are persistent at trying to scam people out of their money.
Right-click and report. Encourage others to do the same
Also remove the group your just advertising them Blizzards not lax its just those people are cockroaches part of a multi billion and no thats not a mistake company that exists outside of the US jurisdiction they constantly use stolen accounts from gasp people buying gold with real money.
This is what it boils down to. So long as there are idiots who disregard the rules set forth to buy services from these companies, there will be people trying to sell said services however they can. Just please keep reporting what you see and move along. It will be dealt with as best as it can be with the tools and information that the GMs have at their disposal.
Fully agree. The fact is these adverts make up majority of the group finder, so it becomes more difficult to find the achievement runs/mount camping groups in time to get a spot.
We always educate our peers that paying these 3rd parties, no matter how trusted they are, is simply taking revenue from Blizzard; who are the real content creators.
A quick loot at their website shows all the USD credit card transactions. It’s not difficult to find evidence to ban them. Taking revenue from the company(gold selling for USD) I believe is the most bannable offense next to hacking.
That said, since reporting seems to do nothing to deter them, I hope more harsher actions can be done to protect the quality of this game.
If you have a suggestion to make that prevents these crooks from stealing accounts and using them to peddle their illicit activities, the General forums would be the best place to suggest it.
Unfortunately, you’re up against a huge industry bent on cheating people out of their money
Can we not have AI wardens that sweeps the group finders for “WTS”, “Sale”, “discount”, and “Get it now before Shadowland” words. Also, most importantly, website addresses!
How many different ways of recognizing alternate glyphs and symbols and alternate ways of wording those advertisements do you think an AI can implement?
The human mind is an awesome pattern recognition machine, and AI as capable of reading work-around spelling and wording is probably years, maybe decades, away.
Blizzard did that with in-game chat once to try and stop gold-sellers. It took the scammers five minutes to bypass the filter.
They stop using a period and start putting in (dot). Then they start using ascii codes and numbers to replace letters. There are just too many permutations to take into account. The list would be so large it would takes minutes or hours to post a group because of the filter.
The gold sellers do not populate the trade chats with their website addresses on Frostmourne any more. If we look at the result, seems like Blizzard succeeded.
As I said earlier, the more permutations they place, the more they confuse the buyer than the AI that takes 5 seconds to learn them. I would appreciate if you looked at my post before replying.
It may not be easy, it may not even be successful, but why give it to them on a silver platter?
Crime exists because crime pays, unfortunately. Reporting is a major help, and it’s what I always do. It also ignores the group so you don’t see it anymore (they aren’t logged out when you report them, their listing is just hidden from view for you).
