Can someone please explain why so many NEED the slime cat in the first three weeks?

No offense taken.

No credibility, just that some peon that works at Blizzard is probably the next best thing besides an official statement.

But it didn’t win the community winner was the tree so everyone got the tree.

You either win or you lose a poll like that. Slime cat lost.

Slime cat was still a really neat concept though and I am glad it’s available in some capacity. It’s better it being LFR than being nonexistant.

Normal is easy. Just wait a while and everyone will out gear it and it will be just as easy as LFR is now.

So why would they invite people who are undergeared when everyone over gears it?

Because you can gear up to 265+ just afking in lfr + buying bis 285 gear with dinars. Then just throw out applications and you’ll get scooped up.

But if there’s players who have 20 item level on me, why invite me over them?

SO they can have it and not worry about getting it anymore

Because!!!

People keep saying that, but… it would be impossible for everyone who goes in to lfr to just afk. Otherwise, no bosses would die. :woman_shrugging:

Sure, you can get that gear IF you were actually doing ZM. But what about those of us who did not? Or people who are just coming back? Or… any number of scenarios, really, wherein one does not have that currency?

Speaking from experience, just running one of my alts through heroics… that is a horrible, horrible slog to gear up in, right now. Just… a very bllaahhhh experience lol.

The trick is to apply to newly forming group. They’ll just scoop whoever at the beginning to get more people interested and at that point there’s not as much competition.

There are two kinds of people in LFR. The one’s who actually pump the numbers/parse/practice for normal, then there’s those who do the bare minimum/afk/die.

The latter are those who can’t even bother with normal because that’ll cause wipes and they’ll get kicked. That’s why my comment was saying “you can just afk”.

It’s not that they need it now, it’s that they have no intention of raiding anything beyond LFR.

Near the end of the season they could just get a heroic carry for cheap. AOTC mount and slime cat for probably a token worth of gold that can easily be farmed between now and then.

At a maximum? Dragonflight probably won’t release during the Holidays, and that’s not including Pre-Patch which will probably be a month or two before that.

And generally, those are maybe one or two, if any at all.

That’s my point. Folks keep on saying, “LFR = AFK”. But, it does not. I was attempting to make that a bit more obvious, and emphasize that making erroneous comments like that helps no one.

I’ve had some pretty bad LFR’s where several will tag and die/just tunnel or auto attack.

Obviously not the whole group is going to afk. Healers and Tanks need to pay attention so that’s 7 of the 25. Hyperbole aside I’ve seen instances of 5(holy moly, the amount of people who “fall” off during the p2 Slyv fight multiple times) just do the equivalent of afk and that’s 20% of the raid. Thing is, 80% of the raid is easily enough to do an encounter barring some fights.

Point is, you can theoretically be that “one” or “two” person who afks his 30 dinars for a bis weapon and all the lfr gear that came with it and be picked for normal after the three weeks are over a the cycle restarts.

I’ve seen two to five in lfr’s, across several toons I’ve run in lfr over the past few months. After a wipe or two, they start getting called out and kicked. Especially if it is super obvious they were running off the edge for Jailer, or just dropping themselves into the holes on that fight. It was pretty consistent, tbh, with the groups not putting up with shenanigans for long.

One or two people like that can be found in normals and heroics too, although they tend to be a bit less obvious with their shenanigans, usually. It’s not just lfr. But I keep seeing that same “afk lfr” sentiment over and over and over, stated by different posters. And… it’s just not true.

I don’t. I’ll get it and more than likely never even look at it because I dont really care about mounts

I probably remember the bad times more clearly, which is why I’m willing to just say.

Thing is, a group can still beat the boss with them doing that, so I will continue to say it’s a option for people so adamant against even doing LFR to level up, just do whatever you want while in LFR queue as DPS, eventually you’ll rack up some 265 gear, rinse and repeat for 30 dinars and you’ll probably get taken into normals (I was getting invites day one in 257 gear just from gearing in ZM/LFR)

Probably being the keyword, I suppose. Just for hits and figgles, I decided to see how it currently is, trying to queue normal for last week (like, on Monday I did this I think). It was on one of my Paladins, just ok-ish geared, around 250-something, and I queued up as heals.

Not one bite. Not a one.

The reason I did it on that Pally, was to see what it would be like for someone who isn’t as well geared, or doesn’t step foot in to mythics, or anything like that. Just a regular player, who maybe isn’t focused on gear all the time, but still wants to have fun.

And, not even as a healer, could I get in to the groups that were up. So, I think it is going to vary wildly for people, which effectively means, people will get left out largely due to chance - which is never, ever a nice feeling. It just bodes ill, and will breed more frustration and possible contempt, which Blizzard does not need right now. What they needed was doling out some good will, but yet again, they are not.
