While I get your point with the variations, most of these are fixed with the Maghar. They have skin tones that looks like Dragonmaw, Blackrock, etc.
Though of course, if I could choose, I’d a part in the customization part that makes one choose the body, including all these types. I’d do that for every race. Or an allied race that has them all. Though I think Maghar does a good job at it.
As for the protagonism, it is not as fixated as with Humans anymore due to other Warchief. But after Garrosh fell, the Orcs were still the protagonists in Draenor (Horde side), Legion showed little Orc (or Horde) presence bar Sylvanas, but BFA was Saurfang. I know Sylvanas was present, but more as an antagonist. Saurfang was the leading Horde character. Then in Shadowlands the biggest Horde face around is Thrall. Even Baine who was the other face is not to be seen after being rescued.
And it’s alright to have a bias for a race. I also have it for Nelves. As long as one is not blinded by it, and even that is not something bad as this is a videogame. It’s all good.
Because the Elf crowd is more, shall we say, vocally passionate about getting these additions. It drowns everyone else out. And if you buy into the school of though that racial selection is a personality choice, this tracks.
But just because Dwarf or Orc players aren’t as pushy with their vanity, this doesn’t mean that they aren’t interested in getting more choices.
Worgen and Pandaren feel like they got shafted in the Customization department, honestly. Especially Worgen. Pretty much only Eye Colors and Fur Colors.
Yes. They are my favorite race in the game but they are also completely fine at the moment. All they need is an actual brewmaster heritage armor with a keg as their backpack.
As an Orc player, getting the AU Mag’har was the same as getting Void Elves for High Elf proponents. It’s not the same thing. They do have their own variations, but they don’t have any of the additions I’m asking for. The have Shattered Hand, Frostwolf, Warsong, Bleeding Hollow, Laughing Skull, and (AU) Blackrock customization.
Fel and Chaos Orcs, with the red-to-pink tones, are not represented, by definition or aesthetic.
Dragonmaw Orcs, with their grey-to-purple tones and amber eyes, are not represented, by definition or aesthetic (they didn’t even exist on AU Draenor).
Blackrock Orcs, with their very muted greys and greens, are not represented, by definition or aesthetic.
Note that all of these “subraces” were subject to demonic taint at some point. They are not the “uncorrupted” Mag’har.
All of these are easy wins. They’re NPC skins that just haven’t been switched on. I would even like to suggest that we get the draconic brands brought back for Dragonmaw Orcs and spines for Fel Orcs (how awesome would those look with your own personal Gul’dan ripoff?), but I’ll settle for the skin tones.
THey never should of removed the tentacles from the hair styles .
It would of done 2 things allowed those of us that like those hair styles and like the void theme to want to uses those styles as well as remind the helfers that they are not or never will be high elves in the sense that Silver Covenant elves are.
I agree with the caveat that male orcs don’t need anything. Someone on reddit mathed it out and male orcs have something like 10 times as much customization as everyone else, even far outstripping blood elves.
I will agree with you that it is strange that Blizzard moves to appease the Void Elf players with an undue level of haste, but doesn’t show any other allied race the same level of care.
Keep lobbying for the changes you want to see for your cored or allied race.
I posted this request in a different thread, but I’m reposting for visibility and support. My racial customization requests:
Worgen
All-Black Fur Option
Tails and tail customization
more scars and battle damage customization options
Transmog option for open hand (open claw) attacks in lieu of 1-H weapons (makes them more Werewolf-ish), like Duskwood Worgen attacks.
An actual /howl emote
more ‘wolf’ druid form options: True Werewolf form for “bear”; American Werewolf in London style for “cat”; lithe, almost ghost wolf form for travel.
Use this pic below for comparison, basically the ‘cosmetic’ human form, standard Worgen form (albeit missing the snout), ‘bear’ form, ‘cat’ form, travel form.
Kul Tiran:
The Kul Tiran physically defining deviation from humans should be elemental and nature markings. Blizzard, please give Kul Tirans Elemental eye and hair effects (a few glowing eyes, rock or bark like hair and skins) . Make them the ‘mystical’ human option.
Their added features, where one would select scars or tattoos, should be dedicated to elemental and nature effects as well (steam rising from their skin, constantly wind blown hair, etc.) Elemental and nature effects would make them pop a lot more.
Male Kul Tiran Shaman (Earth effects)
Female Kul Tiran Monk (Water Effects)
More faces. All of their current faces are all middle aged, we need young and old versions.
More hairstyles. They travel from port to port, they should have several exotic styles. Also, see the ‘elemental effects’ above.
More skin tones (though, I love the fact that I can make them dark already). Add a few ‘odd’ skin tones that match the elemental and natural effects mentioned above as well.
Body sliders. I know you want their size to be their ‘defining feature’ Blizzard, but Kul Tirans should be more than that. Having said that, many want the Rail Thin form, many want a slighter ‘beefy’ form, and still others don’t mind their size. A body slider fixes all of these.
