Is it possible to use a third party 2FA authenticator or is the Blizzard Authenticator the only one usable?
I am consolidating several different site’s 2FA all onto a single 2FA app.

I don’t think a 3rd party authenticator will work.
You cannot. Blizzard’s 2FA system works a little differently. It sends a request to your authenticator, which you have to approve. While you can enter a number, it’s an 8 digit code, unlike the standard 6, and I’ve never seen another authentication app use.
My authenticator token uses a six digit code as did it’s predecessor.
I had googled key fob authenticators a couple of years ago and found a couple that claimed to be compatible with Blizzard.
You may also want to consider running an android emulator on your pc and using the blizzard mobile authenticator under the emulator. Several folks report success with it recently.
That might work Nok, but I really wouldn’t recommend folks running their security device on the device that might get compromised Granted, that level of compromise is relatively rare, but the potential is decreasing the efficacy of the protection.
It does seem about as secure as writing your PIN in marker on your bank card.
In my Android phone, I use Aegis. For Blizzard, I used the keyfob, but the battery finally died, it was years old. With Aegis, I need a password to access the app. Is the Blizzard phone app password protected to retrieve a code?
If you mean once you’ve unlocked your phone, then no. You simply open the app.
Even then, with the app running in the background, if a request is made which requires the authenticator code, you will get a pop-up asking if you wish to approve or deny it. You don’t even need to open the app necessarily.
I hope that helps!
