I know they are still updating the servers, but whenever I click “Play” for burning crusade, it says “An updated version of World of Warcraft is available. Please launch the Battle.net app to download the update.” I won’t have to re download will I?

Unfortunately I enjoy playing more than one game. I will take your first suggestion though!
I downloaded/reinstalled the bnet launcher, still can’t launch BC Classic.
You would be helping a part of humanity if you just played Lost Ark. I would consider doing so.
You did not follow the steps about %LOCALAPPDATA%, etc. did you?
I’m glad that Diablo still runs. Might pick up Diablo 2. When the servers are down on here I normally play RiftBreakers. Pretty fun game. I was also looking at Core Keeper as well on steam.

The issue is fixed as far as it giving you a message telling you to download a new version. You can open wow and it will bring you to the server list. Still need to wait for them to finish though. ;
your fix doesnt do anything when the servers are down
It launches your game in anticipation of the fun that will come later, so sit there and shut up.
