I don’t like how retail looks, so cartoony and squishy looking, I vastly prefer classic wows visuals. Is there some addon or option that I can use to switch?

Nope.
You want classic graphics, you need to play classic.
You can’t play retail with classic graphics, the game simply is not designed for that.

That’s a shame, I guess I’ll stick with Classic but I wanted to give SL a try can’t get past the visuals tho

You have a level 50 retail character that you’re posting on.
The art style isn’t any different in Shadowlands compared to how it was in BFA. If you could play through BFA to level 50 (or if the character was max level before the squish, 110) I think you’ll be just fine playing Shadowlands as it is right now.

Old character boosts to 50 still exist. I used one for an Undead today that had been gathering dust on my account.
That said, his blue armor/ artifact weapon combo suggest he did the old boost, sorta started Legion, then moved into BFA, then stopped abruptly with the content. His achievements corroborate this theory.
I don’t see a huge difference.
How are you getting retail being cartoony and classic not?

Man, I’m the opposite. A classic wrath server with modern character models and trasmog would maybe be my ideal incarnation of World of Warcraft.
Admittedly that’s probably a bit niche for a server ideal.

Classic = low polygon count cartoony.
Retail - high polygon count cartoony.
Notice the underlined commonality.

There used to be an option to use older character models until Blizzard one day decided to remove it for whatever reason.
I miss the old character combat animations. I’m not a fan of the new melee swings.

I love the new graphics and art style. But despise the way they made some of the races look. Orc looks cool still, cooler even. But man trolls and undead used to be my favorite races. I just can’t stand the way the troll runs and the faces on them and the undead look bad, stylistically imo
I like both.
You used to have the option of old player models but Blizzard deleted that for whatever reason. I liked it, shame its gone.
Just lower the resolution scaling to as low as it will go and disable FSR and you will get the crappy classic look you want lol

Lol right? I don’t see the difference. Both are cartoony, classic just looks like a crappy outdated version.
