They used to offer the option though.
It’s weird that they removed the option. Maybe the models just became flat out incompatible with new transmogs, animations, etc? Either way sorry OP, the option no longer exists.
If someone ever made a Wrath server with current races and mogs I might never touch retail again…

I’d like that too. Sadly, I doubt there’s any way to do this. If there’s then I’m all ears! 
Btw, I mostly meant classic portraits and character looks. 
99% of graphics in retail > classic

And they rightfully decided it wasn’t worth maintaining on Retail.
Why rightfully? Do you exclude people who had the option on the past?
Let players have their fun, it doesn’t hurt anyone.
It wasn’t worth the hassle to keep things working for those old models, and once they introduced all the new animations, those old models were done for.
If people want the old models, Classic is there for them.

I think players enjoyment is a worthy “hassle.”
Just let people have their fun and get their options. More options is always good.
Just pull a WC3 and have both. Only negative nancys would be against this.
They do have both, available in their respective versions of the game.
Ok so I could be VERY wrong, but I believe that if you turn your graphics down low enough that it will start to mimic it? I remember during WoD that the character models worked that way.
Wow has always been “cartoony”. That’s part of its lasting power.

I don’t think I could explain it myself but I agree with him. The facial expressions are ultra cartoony and didn’t have a classic analog. The textures in classic are a lot rougher and while everything as a result just kind of looks like stone, overal it just feels less cartoony than retail which is super clean by comparison.
Also worth noting however that classic back when it was vanilla would have looked better than it does now because the CRT monitors back then would have naturally softened / antialiased those lines, while LCD monitors would not.

Back in Warlords you could at least get classic player models, unfortunately with the addition of demon hunters the option was permanently disabled.
Give it time. It took me a while too.

They both run on the same engine, happened when Classic dropped.
Retail has “improved” characters.
You’re not missing much by not playing Shadowlands, consider Dragonflight but Shadowlands is a really hard sale especially now that it’s over.
No but i agree the new graphics look like balloony like Macys day parade.
