I really like the idea of dragon riding as a whole but it really throws off my ability to concentrate and take in the world when I never get a chance to stop mid-air to get my bearings and look around a bit.
Please can we get the option to stop mid-air and hover for a bit while dragon riding?

Yeah, that function is the main reason they came up with Dragonriding to begin with, I am sure. They HATE hover.

There are a lot of peaks in the various zones. You can’t land somewhere and look around?
Seems like hovering would adversely affect the vigor cycle.

Yes hover plz.
Also be nice if harvesting nodes gave more of a Vigor boost. Flying around normally is fine, but if you’re out gathering, I generally have to pause and wait for vigor to slowly recharge because im doing so much landing and taking off to gather nodes. As a gatherer, id almost prefer if we could use old flying mechanics then the new ones. Its a huge downgrade in that department.

Uh yea. Dragon gliding is still annoying because you can’t hover. It honestly sucks. Whether you’re trying to find an annoying cave entrance or are waiting on group members, sometimes you want to sit in one place for a bit that is NOT ON THE GROUND.

A lil hover like the one from Spyro 2 onwards would be great for landings.
Instead of the constant booms from people going full speed into the ground

Yep it’s a huge pain hopping from one thing to another for quest mobs or gathering. You need one egg just to get off the ground. Eventually they run out and you’re sitting there waiting. Really dumb.
I also want a way to disable the stun when you land.

How else am i going to slaughter critters en masse?

See I have the movement speed one.
I gotta grab any kinda speed boost my slow warlock butt can get lol
But that’s the best part!
Eh. Its too constant of a noise for me

I agree with OP.
Dragonriding should have an option to Hover. It could work like this:
- Cost: 1 vigor
- Effect: Slow down to hover and remain hovering for 3 seconds. After that time, you will descend towards the ground just like with dragonriding when you run out of momentum.
- Depending on the speed you were traveling when you hit Hover, it may take up to 5 seconds to slow down.
- Once Hover expires, you may regain forward momentum by diving to gain speed and then pulling up (if there is room) or by activating an ability like Surge Forward.
Adding Hover would be more realistic. Dragonriding is based around how large birds fly. Large birds do not plow into the ground at full-speed. Instead, they flap their rings to decelerate when landing.
I also think that in addition to adding Hover, Blizzard should add mechanics for when your dragon plows into something at speed. Flying into the ground at full speed should result in a dragon pancake with blood, guts and dragon parts flying every direction.

Hover would be nice. But at least in this expansion there isn’t an unfriendly mob on every square foot of land.
As someone above suggested there is plenty of area to land safely and get your bearings.

Swap stun for move and shield. c:

Where/how do you do this.
What it needs is a flare that gives back energy the faster you were going.
While it’s a fun mini game, it makes absolutely zero sense from an energy management / flying perspective. Gaining energy by spending it to fly up. Gain energy through high speed flight. But you don’t gain energy while economically gliding, a more resting state.
Also needs to tone down the high speed visuals. Blizzard seems dead set on increasing difficulty by spreading vasoline on our screen or adding so many effects it’s a guess what’s actually happening.

The talent in dragonriding. It is a choice, you choose shield not spear.

I suppose but then I have to use visor to lift-off again…
I’m an odd one out, I don’t want hovering in dragonriding. Obviously, dragons can hover, but they way we’re flying doesn’t seem very conducive to it due to momentum. Lifting off the ground, hovering would be possible, but I don’t see my drake being able to stop on a dime and hover; if he threw on the brakes, it just seems like it would be painful for him and for me when I inevitably hit the ground after being throw off my saddle.
