I have been playing WoW since day one launch. In that time I have main healed through raids Wrath playing a great Holy Priest.
I PvP’ed in Vanilla up to Lt. General rank as a feral (cough vanilla). There were times that I would have considered myself good.
I have been content to run LFR’s, some normal raids and enjoy the game at my current level. But with the new expansion, I want to challenge myself.
Two things to note. I am a clicker. I can’t change my playstyle eighteen years in to the game.
With the upcoming expansion I want to heal again. Are there any clickers that successfully heal and do well? I don’t mind the challenge, but I don’t want to build a character up just to find out that the skill challenge has passed what a “non-macro” player can handle.
Any thoughts?

If you can click fast enough, yea

Here’s what I recommend, if you’re a clicker then I recommend you download an addon called Vuhdo. With this addon, you can left click/right click then do shift-click, etc.

Clique is another helpful addon as well.

or clique, which allows you to bind clicks and modifiers+clicks to spells in your spellbook. Just use clicks on your regular unit frames and you’re golden.

You can if you believe in yourself! I was a clicker when I first started. Now I couldn’t imagine playing that way. But if you do… Get the addon Clique.
Yeah that too, but with Vuhdo, you can see who needs a curse removed and such.

Gonna be real clear on this one, yes you can if you want to. It’s never too late to learn how to optimize better and become better equipped to perform your role. Keybinding is part of that, and will be infinitely better than clicking, and also make your life much easier.
I’m down to sit with you and help you learn how if you want.

Yes you can. Certain addons help with that, such as healium.
But also, you “can’t” change your playstyle is incorrect. I switched from being a clicker to a button presser and then eventually started using the Razer Naga mouse. You can, you just won’t. But there’s nothing wrong with being a clicker really.
Depends on your definition of clicker because most peeople heal with mouseover binds clicks.
If you mean that you want to click a frame, then reach down and click an ability then I think you’ll run into a lot of issues of simply being too slow.
This was just time spent and the equivalent of honor level now which doesn’t really apply to pve (or pvp).
i dont use addons and i click party frames sometime but it is much less stress healing when using keybinds+game mouse, mouseover macros.
since you getting back into healing and it is the end of the expansion it is a great time to experiment with new muscle memory

If you are clicking while healing please don’t sign up for keys. You will wipe the group.

Can they? Of course.
Will they be objectively better if they use keybinds? Also yes.

Also you’re basically starting fresh so yeah, you can completely change your binds and stuff. I plan on reworking my entire UI when pre-patch comes around, including binds and deleting as many addons as I can.

I love my Naga for healing. I prefer Healbot to Vuhdo.
OP, you can learn a new playstyle as you shift to healing. I think it would be REALLY hard to heal a 25-man raid clicking on health bars and then moving your mouse over to your action bars to click abilities.
I use Healum add on as a clicker, and I do just fine in dungeons and world content and even LFR. I know some that use it even in normal and above raiding.

Its absolutely possible. There for awhile my guild had a resto shaman who was a clicker and refused to use any sort of addon whatsoever, even down to stuff that most people would consider essential these days like DBM or ElvUI. I had my doubts at first but he quickly proved to be one of our best healers, disclaimer being that we’re pretty casual pushing maybe halfway through any given raid on Mythic and doing keys up to 20 or so.
