It affects everyone, since California will send inspectors to out-of-state farms to ensure those who want to export to California comply with Californian standards. If these farms need to change their infrastructure and methods to comply with California’s specifications, chances are all their clients will foot the bill.
if farmers don’t care they wont export to California. Sorta like owner operators and the stupid rules they have for ports. Many drivers refuse to go to California.
for sure. idle regulations, you have to have a certain model of truck or newer. Along with until recently the ports weren’t even 7 days a week even with that massive backup. It’s many factors culminating into a large issue.
California is in no danger of losing its status as the most populous and most prosperous state any time soon. Texas, the second most populous state is about 75% of California’s. Probably not coincidental, California remains the primary destination of college educated people.
The second article mentions 62 companies leaving. But to quote the “Times” of San Diego, “Despite a grim economy, applications for new business licenses are on the rise: In California, 442,324 were filed in 2020, a 21.7% increase from the year before, according to an analysis of data that the U.S. Census Bureau developed with economists and the federal reserve. Across the U.S., about 4.4 million applications for new businesses were filed last year, compared to roughly 3.5 million in 2019, according to the same data, which is considered an experimental Census product.” This means about 10% of all business license applications in the U.S. occurred in California.
Looking at California’s economic clout we’re the 5th largest economy in the world and the largest of the states, with a GDP of $3.12 billion. Texas is second at $1.77 billion or about 57% of California’s economy.
You have a great dislike of the state and that’s fine, but do keep facts and opinions delineated.
Then they don’t export to California, which creates scarcity in California, which makes meat even less affordable, which means less meat gets consumed, which is these hippies’ real end game.
Nah, they’re leaving in droves to Texas, Colorado, Tennessee, . It’s driving up the cost of living wherever they go, and its really damn annoying. Like you made your bed, lie in it. Don’t screw up our state.
Any people leaving are either doing so because they can’t afford the high cost of living, or are conservatives who never agreed with the state’s politics to begin with – of which there are many. It’s a blue state thanks to (give or take) only half its population, mostly concentrated in major cities like LA or SF, while the rest are either red or centrist.
Point being, any transplants you’re seeing probably weren’t the bed-makers lol. Those are the ones who are happy to lie in it.
It’s one of those things that sounds good, but in practice just hurts poor people. Wealthier people won’t care about having to spend a few more dollars for bacon, but poor people that live paycheck to paycheck, it will hurt them substantially.
I hate when policy and laws are wrapped up in feel-good slogans and sayings, when in reality it’s basically just a tax so that people in government can say they did something while they pat each other on the back.
What’s worse is people buy into this crap because of those slogans.
