WoD had so much potential if blizz hadn’t gut most of the content from it like gorgorond and rumors of the other end game content that was cut
Ok. Fine. So its the same like Sindane said.
Why doesn’t it feel the same? Where is the horrible wash of negative emotions that Calia is going through in her sameness? Why isnt she zapping her loved ones like Zelling? Why isnt she suddenly full of extreme hate for everything?
Maybe… maybe she is just better than the majority of her people.
Or maybe its not the same.
When Calia was finally used, she was used well, against many of our hopes and fears. That doesn’t mean that that can’t still come to pass in the future- my trust in Blizzard’s storytelling ability is still at a very deep low. This may or may not be a sign of true positive (IMO) change, or turn out to sadly be a mere anomaly.
This isn’t really relevant I guess, since it’s a totally different system, but in AD&D Mummies, unique to all other forms of undead, were powered by Positive Energy instead of Negative Energy. I’ve never been quite certain why this is the case, other than Mummies were quite likely to have been middling-to-powerful holy men in life. Mechanically they acted the same as any other undead, even though logically his change should have had other effects (ie, healing and anti-healing spells effecting them the same way they would effect a living creature instead of the reverse way they usually effect undead).
It depends on what the goal is here.
If they want her to eventually become the new Forsaken leader proper they need to goth her up and have her eat someone alive. Nothing like a white surface to show off blood splatter and she’s mostly that.
If however she’s supposed to be the straight man to the Forsaken’s gallows antics then honestly she’s already fine. Everybody needs one straight edge friend for when somebody has to talk to the cops.
I just wanna note that Calia didn’t promise anything substantial to Genn. She promised to bring up the possibility of having forsaken troops removed as a measure of good faith. She is only one voice out of five. Likely Voss and Velonara (who saw through our disguise and was thankful for Alliance aid) will see it be a majority vote to do so. Belmont will laugh at the idea and call it weakness. Faranell will likely be indifferent, and might go for it only to further experiment with the removal of blight in Gilneas.
Seriously.
She said she’d bring up an idea at a meeting. And somehow this has translated into an oath of undying loyalty for the Alliance.
Just wait until the Forsaken do it, despite that every single member of the council sans Calia has every reason to never trust Genn Greymane again after Legion.
Give him back his peoples home. One that the Horde had taken.
Legion where he stopped a minion of the Jailer enslaving a titan watcher’s lieutenant. Oh, the horror. /s
While I’m not against Gilneans getting Gilneas back, you’ll get absolutely no where with me by declaring “ancient precedent of home”. The Gilneans stole it from trolls.
There wasnt a single mention of Sylvanas, the literal face of the Forsaken, until the very end from Lilian, who isnt Forsaken, stating joyously "no more banshee queen "
Seeing Belmont and Faranell was nice, but the writers trying to remove Sylvanas and Nathanos from the Forsaken, and replace them with “the pallid lady” and her champion, a Menethil and a Proudmore, is spitting in the face all of us who actually immersed ourselves in the Forsaken narrative. There can be no Forsaken without Sylvanas.
Why did Faranell not go to meet Merelith.
Jesus wept, what a missed opportunity.
Oh, and if we count Legion, then we count Wod’s Ashran incident. Where the Horde attacked the Alliance first. So if you really want to start that, then be my guest.
Even if it’s true, and you can’t prove that it is, there was armistice declared by Varian Wrynn and (presumably) Vol’jin for the unified defense of Azeroth in sum total against the Burning Legion.
Anduin, likewise, told Genn not to do anything unless Sylvanas was up to something. Genn left without knowledge of what Sylvanas was doing, fully intending to kill her.

The Forsaken never had Gilneas until Tuesday.
They didn’t have it in game. They didn’t have it any supplemental material. And until last Tuesday it was a blighted ruin as per the Sylvanas novel. Now apparently it’s Forsaken territory because Gilneas is Schrodinger’s Zone.
I don’t care. Just let the werewolves have their Victorian circle city. Nobody is using it.
Why would you want the Forsaken to remain a one dimensional, slavishly devoted cult of personality. I like that this council setup lets them explore different facets of Forsaken culture. From the evil manically laughing ones to the ones who have most of their humanity intact.
The alliance commented that the horde broke the peace treaty in ashran.
I know. I don’t care if the doggos get Gilneas back.
I care that the first thing Calia does as leader of the Forsaken is work for the Alliance.
The Horde comments that the Alliance are the first to break the pact.
Neither have concrete evidence.
Timeline wise, WoD takes place before Legion. It’s clear from the dialog that the Horde broke the treaty, but the Horde has short term memory issues. So, they act like it didn’t happen. The Horde also lacks critical reasoning skills.
Timeline wise, Vol’jin’s and Varian’s armistice takes place after WoD and before Legion.
There was talk of the Alliance having a treaty with the Horde in WoD.
