Your lucky it was only a day ban and not a account closer only legal way to buy gold is with a token on retail. Also buy doing that your putting ur credit card at risk of getting stolen those sites are notorius for this kinda thing.
Botom line just because there promising u gold doesnt mean its against blizzard rules unless u can do it ingame its not legit.
And a final note no u will lose the gold u bought.
Normaly id tell u to apeal but I highly doubt it would be overturned or ud hear back before the ban would be over.

Fine lets put it this way It would be up to the GM discresssion on how sever it could be 3 days would be a slap on the wrist and the player wouldnt keep his ill goten it would be taken.

No, it is not. There is no cookie cutter guidelines to any sanctions. Before today I would have known first-time offenses in PvP nonparticipation to be a week at most. Chat violations used to start out at a day but they’ve been getting a week since they did away with lighter sentences. The only sure thing in sanction times is that there isn’t anything set in stone. And for those who repeatedly break the rules, their suspension times will only increase up until the account is completely banned and shut down.
The gold is absolutely removed from your account, and the suspension tends to be closer to six months. Longer based on account history, up to and including permanent account closure.
Do with that information what you will.
The people trying to sell the illegal gold will say whatever they need to in order to convince you it’s ‘safe’. “Nah, the worst that’ll happen is you get suspended for a couple days; they won’t even take the gold away from you.”
They stole that gold from some other player. They will absolutely lie to you (and then probably steal your credit card and WoW account so they can sell your gold to the next mark).
the best information I can give, is… don’t believe everything you hear.
A good chunk of the playerbase seem to have a passion for storytelling and conspiracy theories.
