I didn’t know this.
So the Waterstrider will still be able to water stride? Good.

Darn if only there was a water walking elixir type thing that some sort of chemist type profession could make. But no such thing exists.
If we want alts to walk on water, if they’re not a shammy/DK, we must pay for EACH of them to regain what we already have pre-8.2 for YEARS.
It’s all part of their plan to eradicate everything THEY don’t like from the game, no matter HOW many subs it costs them.
You’re just overreacting. 70g per toon, boo freaking hoo.
“It’s not fair”?? Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize life was supposed to be fair. How is it fair to penalize those of us who did put in the work because others were too lazy to work for it?
Because they can.
Flips hair and sips tea
Shouldn’t have to pay yet again for something that was earned through time and effort years ago.
Doesn’t matter if it’s one COPPER.
None of that matters if blizzard decides to lock mount equipment in the new expansion’s zones until you get an achievement like, say, pathfinder. It’s just a new way for them to control your mobility and slow you down, the system even has level restrictions so it comes prebuilt for future restrictions.
Incorrect. You get it free FOR ONCE on every character with the necessary rep. So, unless people grinded the rep for the fun of it, it will be free for ONE. Afterall, why would you grind the rep on more than 1 character when mounts were account wide at that point.
It’s boa… so mail it…
just another classic example of “fixing” that people actually enjoyed which was never broken only to bring it back as something new and “improved” and turned out to be worse than the old version
its almost like Blizzard is getting advice from the same people that marketed the new coke
I wonder how long before they decide DKs and Shamans spells should be nerfed due to them basically ignoring the need for mount equipment to cross water?
OMG! I’m an elitist at last!!! No one can call me a “filthy casual” anymore!
And I have both the striders, so I’m like, SUPER elitist!
Not the point. You get ONE piece free on whichever characters have the rep. Any subsequent WW will have to be bought… again
Don’t look behind you… there’s some spilled milk, you’ll have a really hard time.
Different characters, same sorts of replies. At this point, I doubt there is actually more than a handful of you.
The entire point of this change is to get less people to use the Water Strider.
If the water strider kept water walking by default, everyone would use one of the other mount equips and just use the water strider for water walking. That would entirely miss the point of this change.
LMFAOO!!!
So putting in some time and effort doing DAILY QUESTS to gain rep that lets you buy a mount is now elitism?
What do you do, sit by the mailbox and hope “Sugardaddy Blizz” gives you free stuff for zero time and effort?
If that was truly the goal, they’d have nerfed the sky golem also.
You see far more of them than you do striders, except for the ONE area striders have a benefit: WATER.
Sky golems don’t freak out people who are insectiphobes.
Someone at Blizz hates bugs. Probably the same person that hates buttons. They could have exempted it like they’re doing with Sky Golem and made it ineligible for any mount gear but they didn’t because the whole point is to break the Water Strider.
So instead of doing any number of things that could have allowed people who hate the strider to use other mounts they did the laziest thing they possibly could.
Why not just make more water walking mounts each expansion?
Why not assign different group types to all current mounts with one being water walking and give it to mounts that would make sense to walk on water and add future mounts to appropriate group?
Why not make mount equipment mount specific?
Why not exempt the Water Strider like they are the Sky Golem?
It doesn’t matter how long we’ve been able to use it (I keep seeing this argument - oh we’ve had it for 7 years so it’s ok to remove the thing that people got it for in the 1st place). So does that mean all flying mounts older 7+ years old should no longer be able to fly? Does the traveling tundra need to lose the vendors? Will all the mounts that can carry passengers lose that ability some day? Don’t bother with the Hive mount because what’s the point if what makes it unique will go bye bye in a few years, right?
