But like what’s the point of getting rid of strider water walking?

It minimizes the choices, I have a water walking mount via water strider… I can then chose to have a slow falling mount as well. Hmm I’m equipped for both scenarios not limited to just one… No brainer Poindexter.

You mean like the golem and swimming mounts that aren’t affected?

…except the golem and swimming mounts.

You’re being led by a false narrative.

Except, you could have both options with any mount and consumables prior to 8.2 and presumably after 8.2 as well so long as Water Walking potions and Goblin Gliders are cheap and easy via the garrison and Bardings, Stirrups, and Hoofplates continue to be listed on the AH (and aren’t all used up to create the new equipment).

No, mount equipment is the newest burst of spite from the devs because the players “dared” to complain about something fun that was removed.

(S)he’s likely correct. Except for the Angler’s version, all mount equipment requires BFA zone mats to create and some of those mats are the existing mount consumables that are specifically limited to BFA zones.

The likelihood of not getting 9.0 specific mount equipment is very low.

So toon’s 111+ get the item in the mail from Nat Pagle which helps (I didn’t get it on a 90 and I have no toons between 91 and 110), yet anything under has to get a toon to go to Nat Pagle and spend 40g. EXCITING. All to keep what was existing functionality yesterday.

This is the general order, though the exact order may be out of order.

  • Blizzard noted that people were mainly using the water walking mount strider.

  • They have many varied mount types, so this kind of irked them.

  • They were originally going to have it not work in new expansions, but the player outcry was huge.

  • Players had suggested that water walking be an equipment item, so any mount could water walk. They had suggested this, in many threads with lots of agreeing, since the water striders were put in the game.

  • Blizzard said, “Idea, two birds with one stone.” They could make it an item, along with some other fluff mount equipment people will mostly not use, AND natively remove it from the water strider. That lets a player use whatever mount for water walking, while Blizzard is not as irked that only the strider is being used as a mount.

Of course, it would have made more sense to do this BEFORE we had flying. But that will take at least a few weeks.

I have too many characters on too many accounts to have a different water walking mount for each one.
I’ve never had a mount that I used on all my characters except the water strider so I’ll probably use the water walking mount equipment only on them just so I remember the mount with water walking for each character.

On a related issue, I’m away from my computers ATM. Does the water walking mount equipment still allow you to dive under water on the mount like you could do with the water strider?

It’s NOT per mount.

It’s per character.

You get to pick one perk…

Or the striders could have been exempted from other gear. similar to what they did to the Sky Golem.

I know, but for each character I put it on, I will put it on the water walking mount just so I always remember which mount a character will have it on.

or are you saying that all of the mounts for a character get WW?

yes. Think of it as an “all mounts you ride” aura on your toon.

Use WW and they all water walk.
Use anti-daze and they all get it
etc.

(not counting the golem/swimmers who are immune and keep their perks)

Thanks for clarifying that for me. Makes it worth a trip to pandaria to get the ww token to mail to my alts.
