I looked for this post when I renewed about a month ago to farm a ton of mats for WOTLK and I could not even find it. My friend and I were wondering where we could find the info about the free transfers but we never did until after the fact from a third party social network.
Find another game, play that, distract yourself. Don’t give them more of your money until they treat their customers better.
Like I said, I’m not resubbing until I see the above recompense made, I hope others do the same so maybe Blizzard sees reason to not treat their customers this way. My Alliance characters are now stuck on a 99% Horde PVP server. I will not be paying Blizzard $30 because they couldn’t be bothered to send out an e-mail or put a notice in the launcher about one of the LARGEST changes they’ve ever made to player characters in the history of the game.

I mean after WoTLK they don’t really have anything left. They already remade warcraft, starcraft, and diablo. Blizz has been headed downhill for a while now so I look at all this as probably the last time I’ll ever play WoW with friends.

Looks like there is another maintenance tomorrow! So maybe our characters will be restored.

So I just renewed by sub after 1 year away. I received no notice of this and now there’s no free server transfer available for me? Had I received word of this, I would’ve selected my desired server. I opened a ticket and they’re trying to deny me the transfer. This is ridiculous!

C’mon Blizz a lot of us resubed to prep for WotLK just to find our characters gone… for UP to two weeks…

Tomorrow they apply a backup to restore the botched transfers. Heartseeker don’t be surprised if you have less gold / items than what you left with…rollback should be good after the surprise restoration maintenance on a Wednesday.
I think in game reminder of merge would have been awesome, I sub’d exactly 7 days prior I would have moved all my toons had I known I would lose them for more than entire month.

I waited again hoping that this mornings maintenance was for restoring my characters but still they do not appear. No response either. Submitted a ticket that I’m sure won’t accomplish anything or give me more info.

Mine are missing as well and the servers seem to be back up. No characters, no announcement.
