I want to track when it’s coming off CD and not have to look all the way at the bottom of my screen at my action bars to do it. I keep my CD manager and TMW icons in more of a heads-up position in the middle of the screen.
I blame the Helmet transmog you are using cutting off oxygen to the brain. ![]()

how big is your monitor that it takes extensive muscle movement to look at the bottom of your screen?
edit mode lets you move your action bars to where you want. Like where you’d keep your CD manager at.

You take that back right now!!!

How big? Enough. I want things I’m tracking together as part of my rotation to be grouped together. That’s not an unreasonable ask. I don’t have to make that sacrifice with TMW.
I’ve played around with using builtin action bars or bartender as CD managers and they’re just not. They don’t do the things CD managers do, and again, there’s the grouping issue. I don’t want my clickable action bars up in the middle of my screen and non-clickable ones just mean building a CD Manager-lite non-clickable action bar or two (and I’ve only got one left to play with in the builtin interface).
Also, as mentioned, the CD manager says it’s going to track Dire Beast for me, it just mostly refuses to do so. I just logged in briefly to check some of the things mentioned in the thread on a target dummy and it decided that time to track Dire Beast. But the vast majority of the time in real combat, it is declining to do so. That’s not good. I haven’t figured out what triggers whether it’s going to track, whether opening ability or what (and now I just attacked some things out in the world, tried opening with Barbed Shot, Kill Command and Cobra Shot and Dire Beast isn’t showing :/)
The cool down manager is woefully inadequate to replace current add-ons. The fact that they actually removed key buff tracking from the personal resource bar is an insult to injury.
Hopefully they will do what they said and add those buffs back because I don’t need or want a cooldown bar to track ignore pain, shield block or bone shield. The buff icon on the resource display was perfect.
The current cool down manager will continue to be a massive downgrade for me unless they let you customize it more. I tend to group specific defensive cooldowns separately from main rotation abilities or crowd control and there are times when I use weak aura glow effects to signal when something is off cool down or that I’m at % HP or class resource etc. For example, my weak aura for prayer of mending glows when it comes off cool down which makes it easier to see that I need to cast it.
I have another weak aura to show me which piety is available so I can easily see at a glance is it going to reduce cooldowns, give me the aoe overheal, the shield or the combo version of piety? The blizzard cool down manager isn’t even close to telling me that much information.

You can separate your rotation buttons from non rotation buttons and place them where you want and at a size you want.

Did you use your ability Dire Beast or are you wanting to actually tracks when A dire beast is up.
Yep. I also in TellMeWhen frequently overload cooldown icons with additional animations, glows, etc. to let me know when, say, abilities or trinkets, etc., have procced and it’s an especially good time to use that ability, stuff like that.
I’m just sucking it up and using the builtin CD manager because of the threat that we might be stuck with it and I want to find out these bugs before it’s urgent.

Learn to play based off the base UI and watch yourself improve as your situational awareness goes up ![]()
Well, since the CD manager is now part of the base UI, that’s what I’m doing, aren’t I?
Yes and no. Its a feature that doesnt work wholly and is bound to break. And you’ll be back in the same boat
Good ol action bar and buff slots and personal resource bar
How dare I want anything better than the crappy base UI.
Never said you cant have nor want.
But its a crutch
Im just trying to help you get better at the base level so when things break, your performance and ability to play the game isnt “broken”
No, you’re not. You’re just arguing to argue. As if the interface hasn’t been addon-dependent for 20 years.

I simply cannot fathom playing this game in competitive game modes like mythic+ or PVP by watching action bars and trying to track cool downs in the buff bar in the top right.
There is SO MANY icons and procs and small buffs that shift the buff bar around there’s no way any human could be watching that, watching their bars, watching party health bars and enemy health bars all at the same time.
Part of wanting solid customization in the base UI to replace add-ons is being able to filter the information in a way that works for me, my role, my class and my monitor size.
The game is way less overwhelming if you can tune out all the extra info, props to anyone who can effectively play without cool down managers or weak auras but I just don’t think that’s reasonable for most of us.

I also have tea, lemonade and a lovely mint plant that will offer its leaves for either beverage!
Oh, and vapor distilled water. Which is what I live off of all day after a cup of coffee. ![]()
